Can I pretend my device is a Kindle Fire?

I mean... I can pretend it's a Kindle Fire if I have nothing better to do, but can I get the Amazon App Store to think it's a Kindle Fire?

I think I already read that there's no documented way to get other Android tablets to work with Amazon Video and that's fine. I just want the Kindle Fire version of Triple Town (free) so that I can use Amazon's in-app purchases rather than Google's. I haven't worked out how to download the APK directly yet.

    Thanks

NB: It's a PiPo U8 btw, with Riley ROM 1.1

Find somebody with a kindle fire and get them to extract the apk from the program/game than install it manually on your device

Yes... I don't know anyone with a Kindle Fire. Obviously I had though of that myself. Store demo units are no good either because you can't install apps on those.

I don't even know if the APK will run, or if the "For Kindle" app will run once it's installed. Apparently neither does anyone on any of the half dozen forums I've asked on; and nor does Google.

I did have a go on a Kindle Fire yesterday and it was terrible, so it's no wonder I don't know anyone who's got one.

              Thanks man. Here's the result:

Based on this test, it seems you can install "for Kindle Fire" apps on other Android devices and they work fine. You can even use in-app purchases via Amazon instead of Google - which is exactly what I wanted :-)

I'm not an advocate of in-app purchasing, but for this particular game it's the only way to "buy" it. I prefer this version too, because it doesn't automatically "sign me in" using my Google Play account, and they've omitted the enormous Google+ button.

So better in every way. It's strange that Amazon and developers don't make this the norm, since they'd both stand to benefit (at least in my simplified economic model where people make conscious choices about who to buy from).

              Thanks again

You could probably use "dolfin browser"
Then change the "useragent" to the one "kindle" uses

Just a thought... for futher reference

                  Nice work (damo)
                  Cheers
