A few days more and things are still working pretty well, battery life is better but not 100%, latest windows 10 in and updated so all good.
Heat still a problem at times when pushed yet to do any mods.


Found a handy USB 4 port OTG HUB on **** that can also charge while using keyboard mouse or other intense matter.

The Teclast X98 pro still get a bit of use even more of late.
I joined up to the insider preview for windows 10, a must, since doing the X98 pro has come to life a bit more and performs rather well,
I have done no other mods to the unit, stock standard and working well.

Does it make the heat issue the same level as the Plus?

I Do not have plus to compare,

I just found the unit perform more smarter than before,
I think heat will always be here for this unit unless you mod, Giving it some more testing to see how it stresses.
Windows only no Android.

Also current this update to Windows has a few problems/quirks so expect the unexpected

I have both the X98 Pro and Plus. I was disappointed with the Pro for its short battery life therefore I bought the Plus to see what it is like.

I removed Android on both tablets. I used Windows installation USB (created by Microsoft Media Creation tool) to do this on the Plus (requires microUSB hub with at least three ports for USB thumbdrive, mouse and keyboard). I did a full re-installation of Windows on the whole eMMc, and I am surprised to find that the tablet retains its original Windows licence code therefore I did not have to use another paid code. As for the Pro, I deleted the Android partitions and re-located the empty space to "after" the WIndows partition so that I can expand it.

The Plus is MUCH SLOWER than the Pro - even using "Performance" power setting (google and you can find out how to unlock hidden power options) there is still perceivable lag, plus the battery life now stinks. The Pro is fluid smooth on the default "Balanced" setting.

I never tested battery life of the Plus but I think I may get about 5-6 hours streaming videos over wifi. It is at least one hour longer than the Pro.

RE: heat issue -

The Plus - it gets slightly warm when I stream HD video over wifi. It never got as hot as the Pro used to be (see below). If it ever had a heat problem before, it may be cured because I re-installed Windows and updated all the drivers.

The Pro - used to get REALLY HOT when I stream HD video over wiki. I took it out yesterday and updated all the drivers (particularly the GPU driver), and I found that it is running SIGNIFICANTLY COOLER now. Curiously the battery life did not really improve.
