    Cubot S500 Review

The CUBOT S500 is an affordable device costing only around $120. The specs and features of this phone are rather good for this price tag.
The phone looks very attractive, has a aluminum frame, and glass on the front and back. It is only 7mm thin.
It features the MTK6735A quad-core chipset clocked at 1.3GHz, with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. This is further expandable up to 32GB via a MicroSD card. There’s a 5-inch display with a 720p resolution. The screen has very good viewing angles and it gets very bright.
At the back, there’s an 8mp f2.0 camera intrapolated to 13mp with a while up front, there is a 5mp sensor intrapolated to 8mp. Both cameras do a good job in bright conditions. In low light conditions, pictures taken with the rear camera have quite a bit of noise and the camera takes a long time to focus. The camera app comes with many features that aren't normally found in this price range.
On the back of the phone there is also a fingerprint scanner. It can store 10 fingers and i found it to work good 95% of the time. It features the same type of sensor like on the Nexus 6P, where you don't have to turn on the phone before scanning your fingers. The screen turns on as soon as the fingerprint is matched with one saved in the phone
The device is running Android 5.1. The skin used by the manufacturer is not too overloaded and it goes smooth enough. Features like the "double tap" to wake up are also available. It is unknown if this phone will ever be updated to Android 6.0

The 2700mAh battery is enough to get you thru an entire day. The unfortunate part is that the battery charges extremely slow even with a fast charger.

All apps and games work very well on this phone and it seems that the processor combined with the 2GB are a sufficient match.
The speaker is sitting on the back of the phone and it sounds a bit distorted at high volumes.
This phone doesn't have a notification light and the 3 buttons at the bottom of the device don't light up.
Overall, for around $120usd you get a very sleek looking phone that performs great.
This phone supports 4G, however the 3G bands aren't that compatible in North America.
I got this phone from coolicool.com, it was the cheapest i found it on any website.
