EzCast Summer Holiday Giveaway - 100 EzCast LANs and 100 EzCast Music Boxes up for grabs!!!

EzCast is running a Summer Holiday Promotion in which 100 EzCast LAN and 100 EzCast Music Boxes are up for grabs. Both of these devices were recently presale specials at Geekbuying and generated a considerable amount of interest (3000~5000 views).






The EzCast LAN can be used to wirelessly mirror or cast from a cell phone or tablet onto a large screen television. It also offers wireless sharing from a wired connection and an improved streaming performance over a dongle. Here are links to the Gearbest and Geekbuying product pages.

Really happy to hear that I am one of the lucky winners of an EzCast device in their Summer Holiday Promotion! I am looking forward to testing it out once it arrives. The promotion continues until the 20th of August in case anybody else is interested. Looks like a really useful piece of equipment.

Most of the popular android streaming apps like Showbox, MovieHD etc. now support the EzCast devices and offer a much better user experience than Kodi. There is a recent video on their YouTube channel which shows how to configure Kodi to stream wirelessly to any of their products.

Here are a few pictures of the circuit board of the EzCast LAN box from the manufacturer together with more detailed information about the multimedia processor capabilities (video formats, resolutions etc.) if anybody is interested.




The board is powered by an Actions Microelectronics AM8251 multimedia SoC together with a Realtek RTD8192CU (EU?) 802.11b/g/n 2T2R WLAN controller which should offer better speeds than the RTD8188 that is included in my MXIII android TV box. The new design should benefit from the addition of an optional ethernet port and better RF characteristics as a result of the increased component spacing and more flexible antenna alignment.

The same circuit board could possibly even be customised for more specialised business or factory applications. The SDK can also be obtained (free of charge subject to an NDA?) directly from EzCast for anybody wanting to develop software specifically for this platform.
