Howto.. flash w450

I'm trying to upgrade my w450 with

Sadly..its not going well..
Moborobe / phoenixtools see the phone..

But the tool given on GK..does not
nor SP_Flash_Tool_v5

GK forgot to mention, disable Quick Boot first

New fw installed / rooted /GPS fix applied..

Now it says invalid imei...

Xda says... Well known issue

For changing IMEI just do following things
1. Install "MTK Engineering Mode Start" App
2. Then go to MTK Settings
3. Go to Connectivity
4. Go to CDS Information
5. Go to Radio Information
6. Select Phone1
7. At the top there is a command line which begins “AT+” just type there “AT +EGMR=1,7,”IMEI_1″ (Put your first IMEI number, check phone box or case for imei)
8. Hit send command and you will / may get a confirmation that "sent to mSend".
9. Now go back and select “Phone2″ (for the second IMEI number)
10. At the top there is a command line which begins “AT+” just type there “AT +EGMR=1,10,”IMEI_2″ (Put your second IMEI number)
11. Reboot your phone and check you IMEI number (Dial *#06#).
12. Enjoy.

Got a brainstorm the cmd should be

AT+EGMR=1,7,”IMEI_1″
AT+EGMR=1,10,”IMEI_2″

Imei_1 should be replaced with your imei code for sim1
Imei_2 for sim2

Mine stated 'msend' and after a reboot.. Back on the grid

A simple..upgrade..costing just 5h of my life

Upgrade MTK phone

lets see..

*things you need
Mtk driver ( under link )
root tool ( i like Rootgenius )
upgrade tool http://www.mediafire.com/download/3d...1344.00.00.rar
firmware


*Pre-install stuff
-make a backup of-your-stuff -contacts/favor/...
-Install MTK uncle tool from google-marked
-make a backup of your installed apps
-enable USB debugging under Settings/developer
-Disable quick boot under settings
-time to root your unit (like with Rootgenius)
-time to use mtk uncle to make a backup of your imei code(s)
--optional make a backup using titanium backup
powerdown unit
remove battery sims and sdcard


*Install driver process..
With the no battery.. connect pc to phone
Open device manager
now you need to be quick.. connect battery phone
windows will detect MTK device.. quickly find this in device manager open it
now install the MTK driver

*Driver install Check process
Remove cable then battery
On your pc : start the upgrade tool
Make the settings just like this picture:

Hit the Start All button
connect cable to phone / re-connect battery
--If the driver is installed properly.. the upgrade tool will give a error popup
Click popup away

*Upgrade process
Now.. wait 10sec and hit the Start-all-button again
powerup your phone..(button) it should start-upgrading you phone

*final steps
if the upgrade is completed it should give Green with UserdataCrC oke (pic above)
Close down upgrade tool
Boot-up your phone

First run give the phone 5 min to settle
Enable Usb debuging
Use the root tool..
--shutdown phone : connected Sims/sdcard ect
Power-up phone
Restore the backuped apps / phone data..contacts..favor...
Run MTK tool... give it root access.. restore IMEI code(S)
Reboot..

Final thought.. Un-install mtk uncle tool (even not used, it uses a lot of CPU/battery)

Well.. everthing should be working

PS... The w450 is a great/cheap phone...well worth the money
--bought mine from geekbuying on 'black Friday/Monday deals'
There are custom ROMs here.. (Not tested by me)

First bugs found
1.Sound volume on FM-radio app... Is real low
--tried volume+ app... But no dice
2.Now I get warning msg... On poweramp/xbmc (but not on fm-radio)


I never seen those msg's on the pre-installed fw

The warning msg can be disabled using: (under settings)
