SD Card issue, De-bloating and other stuff

    Hi All, Hi Finless,

I'm running my Arnova 10bG2 Capacitive with Finless 1.4 ROM and I hope to have the 1.5 available soon!

However I have an issue with the SD card. It seems it mounts and dismounts all over the time and it impacts the applications storing some config over the SD Card.

Yesterday, I copied the BookCatalog data from my phone to my tablet on the SD card and this morning it all disappeared. I can't find back any of the book cover while they were available yesterday. The config of my Sonos system is also sotred ther and I regularly need to reconfigure it as it has lost the path to the SD card.

How do I know my SD card is mounted and that the file I copy are really stored on it and not on the memory mounted one? What's the difference between /sdcard and /mnt/storage/sdcard?

FYI, I have deleted the following APK and ODEX and the tablet is working fine

    WIZARD
    TSCALIBRATION
    PHONE
    TELEPHONE

I was wondering about the STARTUPWIZARD one.

And by the way for those who could be interested I'm using File Manager HD and could connect the table to my NAS drive.

Thanks and have a nice day,
    Imkal

The SD card ejection issue is known on many Arnova's. It appears to be fixed in the latest kernel for the 10 G2 "philly" tablet. Why Arnova has not released new ROMs for all thier other tablets with this problem is beyond me.

One thing that seems to help is to disable turning off WiFi when the unit goes to sleep.

      Hi Bob,

My Wifi parameters is set to "Never turn off" though my WIFI connection keeps on being drop all of the time .

Any idea where I could look at?

Thanks and have a nice day,

        Hi Bob,

Well in fact, any operation I tried on my sdcard were never reported "physically" to the card. I mean I deleted files, copied others, created folders and now looking at the SD Card on my PC, none of the files were deleted or copied.

So it seems everything is done in memory and from time to time, it reloads the SD Card content without having applied any changes to the SD Card. I guess it happens by unmount/mount.

I have reported this to Arnova support and will see their answers.

Thanks and have a nice day,
        Imkal

Not sure this is your issue, as I have a Nextbook, but to ensure the files I want are saved to my SD card and not internal memory, I use the file path mnt/sdcard/external_sdcard/kindle (for eBooks) or mnt/sdcard/external_sdcard/apps/backups (for. apk program back-ups). Then I pull my SD card to save back-ups on PC.

As a new android user, I used to think saving files to sdcard meant I was actually saving them to my removable sdcard. I wasn't. sdcard file on the Nextbook is just another file folder on internal memory. The actual removable sdcard is external_sdcard.

            Hi ZonaMojo,

I know and that's the whole issue! But I'm sure the files I tried to delete where on the physical SD Card (Pictures taken from my mobile and other stuff like that). So I was sure I was aiming at my physical SD Card when going those deletions. Can you figure out to find them back an hour later and all the copied data lost?

Thanks and have a nice day,

              Hi All,

Feedback from Arnova is to restore the default settings, to check the filesystem structure from my PC and make sure the SD is formatted in FAT32. I'll check that this evening.

By the way, I removed the SD card yesterday and the applications are now running fine.

Thanks and have a nice day,

                  Hi All,

It seems it's my SD card which is failing. I tried to format it from the PC, to delete files or create new ones and even on the PC it doesn't work. It seems the card is locked. Any trick to unlock it is welcome!

Thanks and have a nice day,

                        Hi All,

I've bought a new SD card and it seems all is ok now WIF is stable and my applications don't loose their config anymore!

The only thing I'm still struggling with is the size of the SD Card as shown in the Storage view. My gard is 4Gb but in the Storage view it shows me 5,8 Gb.

Anyone knows where the difference is coming from?

Thanks and have a nice day,

Download Android system info from the market this will show you more clearly what your sd card is and how much internal memory you have

                            Hi Damo,

I've downloaded the Android system info app and it shows me the same figures . Now I also installed the Norton Mobile utilities and this one shows me an external storage of 11,6 GB which could come from the 8 Gb of the Tablet and the 4 of my SD Card.

Could there be an overflow in the memory at 6,4 Gb in those applications?

Thanks and have a nice day,
