Hi everyone, I just finished my custom ROM so here are the update, fix and new :
- File Manager replaced Explorer (ver1.12.10)
- Office Suite full ver5.0.506
- Gmail ver2.3.6
- Drive ver1.0.77
- MAPS ver6.6.0
- QuickPic replaced Gallery 3D (ver2.2.3)
- Reader 1.1.1
- Play Store 3.5.16

On this ROM there are more available app on the market that there is on Finless Rom

Default wallpapers replaced by some ICS and HD wallpapers.
Google contact and agenda sync works fine

FYI so others know. This ROM is not rooted and system.img is still cramfs.

mimi, what did you do to get more apps showing up in the market? I do not see anything significant?
It appears you used the stock ARN 10b G2 build.prop file?

Hi Finless, I used your 1.4 ROM but the Archos 3G USB Dongle doesn't works. So I tryed the ver1.3 but many french app are not compatible : (winamp, societegenerale, france24, Allociné, cdiscount, fake gps, google currents...)
with my custom ROM maybe it's based on the orriginal stock rom but it's more compatible with the market. I'm sure you can do better than I^^

Do you want to make yours rooted and EXT3? If so I can tell you how to do it. Doing that should not change how compatible it is with apps.

So what did you change to get more apps to show up and changs it to be compatible with French apps?

I removed the SU and root from my rom some apps won't work on rooted tablet (like Google movies, orange TV).

For the app compatibilité I changed the files who are in /system/etc/permision/ et put the old and new market on system/app/ have a try downloading Winamp.

No need to remove su and superuser.

Get an app called Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. It will temporary unroot you when you want to run apps that look for root like Google Movies, etc.

I will look at your xml file changes but Winamp installs for me just fine on the 10G2.

So I looked in your ROM in etc/permissions

I see one added file
com.google.android.maps.xml

Which I have been adding in other 1.5 ROMs recently. My 10G2 has it. I also added features.xml to my 1.5 ROM which shows more apps as well. I did not add these to the 9G2 firmware as I did not know if they would effect it as I do not have a 9G2 to test with. But I will add them next go around.

So you know features.xml says this and it does add to what the Market can see by telling Google it is a official build:

I see some subtile changes to handheld_core_hardware.xml but nothing that I would think would change how the market works?

Warning!!

I would warn anybody against using this firmware. I flashed two different Arnova 9 G2's with it. While it was working OK, neither tablet can now power down any more! They are both stuck in the rotating "Power Off" sign, presumably until they run out of power by themselves.
