    Arnova 7G2 Finless Bob's "GingerComb" Custom ROM Version 2.1 - Final Release

    Arnova 7G2 BETA is over!

    This is my "launch" release!

    This is the launch version.
    The changes over the BETA are:
    1) Added more space to /system for APP Injector and system APPS. This went from 240mb to 300mb.
    2) Added the WPA_Supplicant from my 1.5 ROM which allows connection to ADHOC Wifi networks.
    3) Updated to latest Superuser.apk
    4) Updated the APP Injector package to the lastest updated Google APPs as of July 10, 2012

    Ok folks. With the success of my "Gingercomb" ROM for the 10G2, I am now releasing this same ROM for the
    Arnova 7G2.

    This is ONLY for the 7G2!!! NOT the 7b G2, etc!

    Below is my stock description for Gingercomb and the download links below that.

    2.1 is really my 2.0 with all of the fixes found to date and I have added Clockwork Mod. Now the testing of CWM was odd I must say. Most it worked for. Some had problems which I cannot repeat myself. It works for me 100%. Heck I can even flash 2.1 and restore 2.0 with no problems at all and visa versa.

    Remember though. If you backup say 2.0 and flash 2.1 and try to restore 2.0, YOU WILL be back on 2.0 if you do a full restore! This is because it writes boot.img and system.img BACK! THis is in fact how CWM is suppose to work folks! If you want to try a "advanced" restore and restore your data and setting you can try it. Do an advanced restore and ONLY restore data and cache. If it does not work well... thats the way it goes! CWM is never a 100% gaurentee when you try to restore from different ROMs.

    Now for those that dont want to use CWM.... Don't! It will not effect how the ROM works at all! Just on first boot after flash you will get the CWM menu. Select reboot now. DONE... you will never see CWM menu again unless you want to.

    Also in the new APP Injector package is Petrus' reboot app. Install this if you want to reboot into recovery from the OS. Other apps wont do it for reasons I have gone into before. It's how Arnova decided to remove support for recovery from the kernel.

    And more good news! I got permission from the maker of Button Savior! So that is now cooked into the ROM as a system app

    OK for those that do not know what 2.0 is and want to know before flashing 2.1 which again is 2.0 with fixes and CWM, please read this post. In the link below there is also a link to a video showing you what my "GingerComb" rom is if you want to see it in action.

            ok, right thread now:

            Lovely Bob,

            In, flashed, done & seems fab. As I have beta I just updated using the system.img - got a few 'flickers' on the screent first boot after, but a couple of reboots & all fine. No need to reinstall! phew! Injected apps & all systems go.

            Once again, many thanks for your efforts with this!

                First bug))

                I have used it and have just found a bug
                When i have managed my "desktop" (i don't know how it's really named) i've tried to put the default clock widget, after that, i've got an unexpected ending of process, and i wasn't able to press home, because of ending of procces, so i wasn't able to go in menu etc etc
                Finally, i have reflashed my arnova)))

                  OK, I will see if I can reproduce it. Maybe app injector failed on the deskclock.apk for you.

                    I just reflashed my 10G2 to the 7G2 ROM using my kernel. I had NO PROBLEM putting the clock widget on my desktop. This was after I made sure using APP Injector to put back the deskclock APK. If you missed installing that, this maybe your problem.

                    If someone else with a 7G2 that put back the deskclock.apk using APP Injector can test this, I would appreceate it but for me this is not showing as a bug.

                        Just_Mark - I can confirm the same as Bob, there's no issue with the default clock so long as you use the App Injector. I've just put the default clock widget on my 7g2 with no issues whatsoever, no FC's.

                        I'm guessing the same as Bob - without having the app installed initially the system just goes crazy trying to find something that isn't there in the first place.

                        So Bob - no bug. Loving the ROM. Used it massively yesterday in meetings and long train journeys to London - Docs, games, finance progs, all working lovely. Not tried any 3D games so might grab me gta just to check. But all cool as far as I can see!

                            Ummmm......

                            OK thats.....

                            Settings, privacy, factory data reset.

                            DO NOT "check" Erase Sdcard unless you really want eveything on Sdcard to be gone!

                            I think you need to poke around more with Android and get to know it. One of the best things to do is GO through all the settings menus and see what they do. You will learn a lot from that point on.

                              but, if this is in setting menu, why this option is included in your CWM?
