Be ready! Most people that RMA a G2 now get back a G3 because there are no G2 replacements left. So you may not get back a G2. If you get a G3, Snakekillers ROM is getting REAL GOOD!

-Hold volume up and keep holding it.
-Hit the reset hole for no more than 2 seconds. It just needs to be reset.
-About 1 second later (no more) release volume up. DO NOT keep holding it or it will try to go into recovery not flash mode.

I do not see the Arnova or anything for me. The screen just goes black and Windows BONGS there is a device attached.

    Success!

Bob's method worked perfectly (Damo's did not, fwiw, but thanks anyway!). I think I was holding the volume too long before.

The tablet is now back with original firmware, I have my RMA and ready to ship it back!

Many thanks to everyone for holding my hand through this. When the refurb arrives, I will go back to Finless 1.5, and hopefully I won't need any help .

    You guys are awesome.

To get into flash mode, here's what I'm doing:

    --Tablet is ON
--Holding volume up button, I reset the device with a paperclip
    --Device goes dark
--At this point I plug in the USB cable and get the above result.

Clearly I'm doing something wrong to get into flash mode. Again, apologies for being dense about this. I did it before, but can't remember as it was months ago.
Try doing the same but with your tablet switched off you will briefly see the Arnova logo than your screen will go black

Your not in flash mode. It will not show up as a Arnova 10G2 in device manager. Is should show up as UNKNOWN device or RK29 Device. If it is showing up as a 10G2 that is the removable disks / ADB.

I think I'm in flash mode. I followed the booting instructions contained here, holding the volume key up while doing a reset. At that point the tablet powers down. When I connect to the PC, it boots, the pc recognizes the device as Arnova 10G2, but then looks for drivers.

Perhaps I'm not in flash mode.

    Sorry to be dense.

I am attempting to use the Rockchip batch tool to restore the original firmware as described here. I cannot get the tablet to be recognized by the PC. I need to first install the Rockchip drivers, so I've been following the instructions here. The PC is an older XP machine.

My problem is that instructions say "Now click browse my computer for driver software. Locate the firmware folder and go to the drivers folder and select the correct driver for your operating system." I have specified, in sepearte attempts, the XP 32 bit driver folders in both the Rockchip Batch Tool folder, and the Arnova Finless 1.5 folder. In both instances I get the message from the Install hardware wizard that it cannot find the necessary files.

Any help here would be appreciated. Clearly the drivers I need are elsewhere?

(It was easier to move TO Finless 1.5 than back!)
