If cube release 4.2 for th U30GT i'll be looking at basing a ROM on it.

Well, I asked in the official site from Cube Tablets and they said that they are planning to have Android 4.2 based firmware, so I suppose it is good news for us.

I have a wish list of the top of my head

Gapps 4.2;
Gmail
Keyboard
Camera and gallery(if you can beat camera fc )

Music app. IIRC there wasn't one in with 1.1 . Can you get Google music working?

I still had two bloatware apps - removed OK with root uninstaller

Awesome BEATS audio pre loaded


All the gapps. Beats. And Google music are all on XDA as apk/packaged zips. I have most of them side loaded and working OK on 4.1

Have you got a link for those apk's on xda. I'll take a look and see if I can sort out cwm updates to deploy them.

There will be no chance to get swype to work. It needs framework to be matching and If I`m right it needs to have touchwiz to be present. Even if you get the framework.apk fixed....I don`t think it`ll work because of the missing touchwiz

Coming to email. Some time ago I looked out for an email app. Tryed several but when I saw kmail the search was over. It has millions of options and can host all my email accounts at three different services.
Biggest plus is I can backup it with titanium backup. I have it running on three devices working perfectly on all of them. You may give it a look yourself.

Current video resolution sucks. Something around 640 x 480 (VGA)

2mp covers the resolution needed (1600 x 1200 IIRC) but the camera is not recording at 2mp it would seem

If it did I doubt it is capturing the number of frames needed to produce HD video progressive 24 25, 29/30 or interlaced 50 , 60 fps

HD is "defined" by resolution. I.E more than 720 pixels on the vertical (technically its actually 480 but let's not go into that). When recording its not just resolution to be taken into account. Even if it was it seems to only be capable of 480 on the vertical.

My HTC One X camera lists the following res'

Full HD 1920 x 1080
HD 1280 x 720
High 640 x 420
Low 320 x 240
MMS 176 x 144

So we are around the "high" mark. I presume the camera needs to lower the resolution to capture the amount of frames needed for video. This is a stab in the dark as to why it does not record at 720

I only know a little on this. I'm sure somebody can elaborate
