Ematic Eglide 7 - Rooting discussion

I have been trying to get this tablet rooted for my daughter for two weeks. I just don't have the skills to take the stock update image and unpack / repack it. I uploaded my stock update image for you. Could you please add root to the stock update img? Thank you in advance for any help you are able to give me.

Do you know if it is a RK29 processor or a RK28? If it is RK28 then it is not that easy to root. I can get you semi-root but system cannot be converted to EXT3 and writable easily!

OK so you know RK2818's that I have worked with do not work with the system partition being ext3 and writable. So I can amke you a rooted ROM real quick but /system will still be read only.

We can start with that.

I was also going to ask you. I downloaded to custom roms designed specifically for my tablet. They both have a permenent root, but I have No Wifi, Sound, or Android Market. Why do you think that is happening?

Well I got the ROM apart but here we go again! They used a none standard CramFS for /system. They do that to stop people from rooting it. Now I have to see if I can find a cramfsck binary that will open it

OK I have tried everything under the sun to try to take apart system.img.

Boot.img is regular cramfs and I am able to take it apart. In there init.rc shows that on boot it is mounting system as CramFS. But looking at system.img it is like it is completely missing the header?
I have tried mounting it all kinds of ways and using different cramFS binaries that have always worked one way or another in the past.

But this one is a complete mystery!

Is there some posts somewhere that talk about this tablet and how people have rooted it etc?

On page 4 of this forum, User Sunigirl talks about how the Ematic Eglide is indentical to the Apad 710

On the next page (5) she post her original firmware and how to flash.

On page 9 she uploads her Custom Rom for the Eglide. This Rom has a permenent root. (This is the rom I mentioned that works, but you lose Wifi, Sound, and Android Market.) On that Same page, 2 post below it, she explains how she was able to modify the Rom to get a permenent root.

On page 10, She posts all her files available for download pretaining to the Ematic Egile.

I hope this might shed a little light on my tablet. If you are having problems with it, I know now it was impossible for someone like me to figure it out.
