    So you can use things like titanium backup to restore "System Apps". Or update and replace system APPs. You also cannot theme or anything without the system being writable. This is what I was calling a semi-root. You are permanently rooted but not having write access to /system means your only semi-rooted.

    But if you have not had a need for writing to /system, then your porbably just fine with it the way it is.

            a few questions

            when checking the "loader" checkbox, do you need to specify an offset? By default there is none specified.

            how do you get the device in flash mode?

            I ran RKAndroid tool and it said it found the device at the bottom, but i had not put the device in flash mode. When attempting to EraseIDB it gives an error "MSC Can't do Erase IDB"

              There is no offset for the loader so no worries there.

              You are not in flash mode it's in USB disk mode when you have FOUND DEVICE MASS STORAGE or MSC.
              So you need to get it into flash mode. Sorry I do not own one so I do not know how to put it in flash mode.

                I was able to get it in to flash mode by holding down the back/escape key while plugging the device in to my USB port.

                I could then successfully clear it, but not successfully load it.

                The problem now is that I believe I interrupted the flashing of the device. As now it does not come up as the device it did before using the RockUSB dll to communicate, it now used the disk drivers in system 32 when i plug it in - it shows up as a disk drive.

                it does not boot now normally, i can only see it when i have it connected via flash mode.

                  You should still be able to get it into flash mode. I have yet to see a RK device become a permanent brick. I suppose it's possible though. Try seeing if you can power it off completely by holding the power button a long time and see what it does.
                  Then when powered off, see if you can get into flash mode as before.

                    i was able to reflash it using the tool. However I think i might have the wrong ROM or something as when the process is done it never turns back on.

                    FYI i had to get the RKAndroidBatchUpgrade tool, then hit switch, and reload the eglide ROM i got from sunigurl on the post referenced in this thread.

                    once i loaded the eglide rom, i could then reflash using the rkandroidtool, but got hte same results. here my log.

                      It s flashing OK but if it does not boot, then it may not be the right ROM for your model.

                        hmmm - ematic eglide reader 2.2 is the model number. The system versions matched the ones prior in this post.

                        eglide doesnt seem to have much in terms of help on their support site.

                          How did you get the tablet back into flash mode after your pc only recognized it as a drive?
                          I first had an issue where I couldn't even get it into flash mode, then after I figured that out, I ran the RK android tool, and now I it won't boot nor can I get it back into flash mode.

                            i didnt run all the shell commands before trying to use the rom load tool, so as of now mines a brick....

                                Hello Finless I wonder if there is a writable rom for EGlide?
