SKYTABS CHINESE TAB with RK29 Chip --- need to root it

I have a SKYTABS TABLET with RK29 CHIP. I have the img file for ICS provided from the Importer into India.

Can you help me root it ? I can send you the IMG file if you provide let me have your email ID.

I am new to forum and therefore am not aware how to attach the IMG file alongwith this post as the file size to too large (around 300 MB).

Your not going to be able to EMail a 300mb file. EMail is not made for that kind of file size.

I am new to Android and linux.

I had gone through some of the posts in forums for extracting files ramdisk and kernel from the img file, adding su and recovery files, repack the files back to img and flash the Tablet to root the same. I even downloaded cygwin and tried to do the same. But I got stuck with an error "Android Magic not found in boot.img. giving up".

Kindly help me root the Tablet, as well as, it will be helpful if you could guide me in how to do so, so that i can further try adding some files or images to the img myself.

Dear Bob,

I have been reading from Forums. with the help of which :

I have been able to unpack the update.img by using wendal-teclast_tools-374c2a8.zip with the command : lua rk29xx_rom_tools.lua

the file gets unpacked in Temp folder.

I then viewed the system.img, boot.img, recovery.img with the help of winimage software.

I am stuck here. I am not able to find as to how i should include superuser.apk to the system.img file.

Can you help ?

Are you back (as you mentioned that you shall be away during last week).

If yes, can you please look into the Rom which I have uploaded for you ?

In the meantime, I have been going through your post http://www.freaktab.com/archive/index.php/t-287.html "Rockchip Rom Building Tips and Tricks" where you have detailed out the proceedure as to how to mount the img files in ubuntu.

I did install VM Vitualbox Manager, installed UbuntuV12.04, and tried mounting the system.img extracted earlier from update.img with the help of AFPTool from wendel_teclast tools. I got the error that "worng fs type, bad option, bad superblock".

I also tried to run using "./simg2img system.img sys.raw" --- got the error as "Bad Magic".
