Nextbook 8 froze/won't reset

Hope someone can help. I got a Nextbook 8 about 1 1/2 years ago and it's worked ok until recently. Last week I downloaded some stuff from Getjar and then I couldn't get the tablet to work. It turns on ok but doesn't even get to the full home screen before it shuts off. I've tried pushing the reset on the back (twice) but that didn't do anything. I took it to he library and tried to plug it into their PC but that didn't work, either. (Too many filters?) I took out the SD card. Nothing. I've written to the company, two times, but I haven't heard from them, either.

Anybody have any good ideas on what I can do to get this thing up and working again?

Have you tried

Have you tried holding down the volume up key and turning it on to get the no command screen? When you get that it should come to the android like factory restore and other commands for it.
