    Skyworth S7 ROM

    Hi !

    Recently I bought a RK29 tablet with Android 4.0.3. I think the provider from where I bought this tablet made a special order to Skyworth so it won't come up in skyworth website for support.

    Anyway, I manage to get the backup.img and extract it with afptool. Now, can I use this backup.img to restore my tablet in case something wrong happened? or I have to repack it with some program to make stock rom?

    It depends.... not all backlup.img's are alike. Most likely you have to convert the backup into a flashable ROM so yes you have to take it apart.
    You can try using AFPtool that is part of the RK SDK. Google search that as it is easy to find most everywhere.
    If you want to upload it, I can have a look at it I can probably make a stock ROM kit and a rooted ROM kit.

      Hi Bob,

      I already extract it using afptool and came up with these files:

      boot.img
      kernel.img
      misc.img
      recovery.img
      system.img
      package-file
      parameter
      recover-script
      rk29xxloader v2.08
      update-script

      Now what should I do to repack it?

      One of my friend accidently bricked his S7 tablet and when he tries flash it with those files using rkandroid tool v1.29 it stucked at boot screen.

      Sure, I can upload it to you using ftp using filezilla

              OK I have downloaded the ROM and will look at it today. I have a meeting this morning but I will have a stock ROM for you soon.

                  Well interesting ROM. It has a kernel in boot.img, recovery.img, and a separate kernel.img.

                  Total waste of NAND memory space. So my rooted ROM will be all cleaned up!

                  I am making the stock ROM flash kit now.

                    Stock ROM is done. I am uploading it now. Should be about 40 minutes or so.

                      Here is the stock ROM flash kit. This does use RKAndroid tool 1.29 and drivers which is part of the download. I have setup the flash tool to automatically set the offsets, etc. However there are some things you MUST DO.

                      Please see the README in the kit but in summary you:
                      1) Erase IDB using the erase button in the flash tool. This is especially needed if your tablet is bricked.
                      2) Check the loader box in flash tool so the loader gets flashed with the ROM.
                      3) If you already have the drivers for RK BATCH tool / RKAndroid tool installed on your PC. YOU DO NOT need to try and install them again.

                      I tested this myself on my Arnova tablet and it is not a brick ROM.

                      ROM -> SkyWorth S7 Stock ROM kit (222 megs)
