    I got my Draco AW80 today!

    I got the new OctaCore Tronsmart AW80 today!

    Can I say something..... I am pretty DAMN impressed with this box so far. I have only played with it an hour but just had to post about it. It is real speedy! I have not even used Antutu yet or played games but I threw some videos at it and WOA!

    So I have to really ring this box out and see but this might just be a S802 and 3288 killer!

      OMG Sata Disk port!

      OK, I gotta say I LOVE the SATA disk port on this box!

      Copying files is not as fast as I would like but Oooooo MAN.... Does playing videos from a SATA drive (old 640 GB 7200 RPM drive is what I used) really work well! The SATA port on it's own is pretty NICE!

      Now to test what video formats it can handle...

      Netflix tested and working well. It starts out with some weird video anomalies but within about 1 minute it is golden!

      I threw a DVD IMG image at it, and the stock video players had no problem playing it.

      Now going to try every format I have... stay tuned...

        Here is another reason I like the SATA port.... You can SKIP to anywhere in the video and it is like instant!!!!! Like a home dedicated Blue-ray player..... Seriously... this is the most seamless video playback and interaction with the video player I have seen....

        The SATA disk ROCKS! And I am using a slow old drive! NO NEED for a SSD Disk in my opinion...

          I wonder if it will take too much too much power if you hook up SATA hard drive and an external hard drive hooked up with usb 3.0

          i want to see the real antutu scores for this thing too

            That will be limited by the 12V power supply supplied... If you plan to do that, maybe upgrade the PSU.

            FYI folks... I have thrown MKV, MP4, AVI, WMV, ISO, IMG formats at this thing and it has played EVERY one of them....

            Also NO FRAME SKIPPING that I can see! This is coming off a SATA drive. I will test streaming from WIFI and Ethernet next.

              3D movies work!

              Just tried 2 3D movies. They work perfectly. I had to switch my LG TV to 3D mode but it's perfect.
              Also tried it in the supplied XBMC KODI and that worked too although the control interface at the bottom was not 3D. But that can be fixed in KODI settings.

                  Wifi on my 5G router works faster than any box I have seen yet and I am NOT blowing smoke up anyone's rear end!

                  I will post test pics soon..... I will test Ethernet later but Wifi is super fast!

                  Oh and installing XBMCHub config wizard was super fast! Way faster than anything I have seen yet...

                  This box is looking better all the time!

                    It's been over 2 years since I did anything AllWinner.... So I gotta study up and relearn

                    Thanks Eric for sending me the box... It so far is looking REALLY promising!
                    FYI Eric, the color and saturation over HDMI is really nice!

                    You may remember or notice posts that I said a few times my wife is super picky about color and saturation. She does not like RK boxes. She likes the AML boxes better.... But I asked her to take a look at this, and she said "that's the best I have seen so far on a TV box!".... Her words everyone and trust me, she is like super picky... Now she is saying, "when will this box be on our TV"

                      COLD AS ICE

                      So, after working with AML S802 and 3288 and heat issues....
                      THIS OctaCore is COLD AS ICE! No seriously.... I have no heat issues on my case or on the CPU that I can feel.

                      Yes sure, I will take it apart but there is NO EGG frying on this unit!

                      Going to do some benchmark testing now.

                          Wifi performance

                          OK this blows my mind and I am not sure I believe it 100%.

                          So I ran the OOKLA speed test APP which does not care or know about wifi or Ethernet connection. It's a internet speed test...

                          Basically it PEGGED my routers full bandwidth! What does pegged mean? It means during the test it hit MAX my ISP allows!

                          I have NEVER EVER seen this before on any device I have owned yet.... Seems AllWinner has their drivers tuned!

                              Ethernet testing with OOKLA was basically the same as WIFI... PEGGED.....
                              I am damn impressed...

                              I will do some file transfer over both wifi and Ethernet and see what I get...
