      Display Resolution Change With Peripherals...

I noticed that when I added an SATA drive (power off) that when I booted up I was no longer at 4k resolution. Resolution was changed without notification, just booted up with lower resolution. If kept everything the same (plugged in) there are no changes with repeated boot.

Also noticed that on boot up audio is always muted but no problem for me.

When trying to change wallpaper in 4k resolution mode it won't ever show apply button. Also, shows cropped image, so large size wallpaper is not possible (not even the default wallpaper size which is larger, looks like maybe 960 pixels wide?)

When I used ROM Toolbox Pro application I was able to change SD cache for internal disk. Much faster boot time and better performance when cache increased to 3072m. Also, with ROM Toolbox I was able to turn off Finless animation and that made it boot faster. Although confusing, I set animation to NONE and still there was an "android" animation?
      ------------
This is probably not accepted practice, but I copied the Framework-res.apk to my Windows64 PC, renamed it to Framework-res.zip and opened the res folder and dragged a replacement pointer_arrow.png into the zip to replace the file that was there. I then copied the Framework-res.apk to the Tronsmart Draco AW80 and using MKC file application copied the new Framework-res.apk and replaced the existing Framework-res.apk This does cause it to freeze. But when I unplug and re-plug in, the cursor is changed (one pixel 80% transparent dot) barely visible.

It seems if you change more than the one png file it won't work. So, I'm out of a jam for tomorrow anyway. Hopefully, Finless Bob will figure out some more of the memory issues to optimize the 4GB of RAM better and maybe look into the SD cache optimization.

This box looks extremely promising, and I have been able to easily load Basic4Android applications onto it and run them with amazing performance comparable to a much more expensive laptop or desktop computer at 4k video resolution. AMAZING!!!!! I'm blown away, this is way more than a TV box.

        Finless ROMs

I'm very happy I got the DRACO AW80 after futile attempts trying to work out the kinks in two other Android set top boxes, and this thread PROVES it!

Can't wait to get this ROM set up on my brand new box, thanks so much to the Dev for this!

I could be wrong, but I believe this rom to have this setting on 1920.

            vs.

            Code:
            ro.property.max_video_height=[B]2160[/B]
            is that a choice?

Just want to publicly thank Bob for amazing work and help and everything. Totally worth donation (enjoy the new 4k monitor)! We are both over 50 years old and love to learn new things. The Tronsmart Draco AW80 boxes are quite amazing, but also quite complicated.

Version 1.1 b2 is not perfect but does things the stock ROM doesn't. Some day I hope to learn to modify ROMs and tweak things and take these new amazing pieces of hardware to new heights of capability and use. There are a lot of headaches, but rewarding when it works! I'm still holding on with my fingernails but learning new Android stuff every day.

Installing Finless with SD Card Method

I think I found a way with TWRP to flash just the config.sys part so I may be able to offer tweaks to those that want it and can go back easily without erasing and reflashing. That's my desire anyway.

More to do but glad it's working out!

                Bob,

I'm installing your ROM to my TELOS today using the SD Card method. When I insert the card into the Telos and power it up, how long should I let it run before unplugging the power and connecting it back up to TV? You say eight minutes, but is that safe or should I wait a 1/2 hour? Thanks!

                Comment

Depending on the card you use, the flash stage can take anywhere from under 4 minutes to 7 minutes. You should see an on-screen progress bar. When it completes and the screen goes blank, remove the card and reboot.

Bob, Something's going wrong when I try to write the Finless ROM to SD card using PT 3.09:

                    [MBR]Burn Success

I'd start by formating the SD card first, if that doesn't work, try another SD card. If that doesn't work, try a different SD card reader/writer. I used 4GB SDHC card with no problem with cheap PRETEC P240 USB 3.0 card reader. I have heard of others having problems with different SD cards/readers... That might be a place to start troubleshooting anyway.

Format how, the PT 3.09 formats the card before it writes to it I thought?

I just took out 64GB UHC micro SD card from my Note 3 phone and am going to try again.

BTW when I say keyboard, I mean keyboard, NOT the touchpad mouse... the touchpad mouse on the same keyboard ALWAYS works fine.
