Overheating Mecool M8s Pro L and Pro + (and others ?) - Options ???

Finally, I bought a fan from the raspberry, I made a hole of 30mm, I connected it to the 3v pads, and I placed the fan sucking. Only 50 degrees.

Have you tried fitting it inside with the lid lifted slightly by the fan, if it will fit ?

No.The switch is too big to fit inside. The fan can be put inside but the lid stays up and you have to put longer screws to be able to close it. I think it's better to have the tv box closed and the fan stuck on top. So we also avoid getting Dust.Sorry for my English

The fan is placed extracting from the inside. So I guess it will get less dust. To stick the fan I used instant glue.

Here's how I modded it to stay cool. I drilled holes in top, replaced the heatsink with a 40x40x11 aluminum HS, (noticed 10°F reduction with HS replacement.170°F now) 80mm fan rigged for usb. Blowing air out of unit. It's either lose a usb port or electrical plug with alternate fan setup. Fan reduced it by 70°F.

When the tv box is turned off, does the fan still work?

Not at all. The 80mm fan makes no noise. It was $1.61 on **** .

Nice mod. Is it a 12V fan spliced to a USB cable ? That should be nice and quiet.

Holds Fan in case and presses down Heatsink nicely - can use MX2 paste not glue.


Stealth Fan - 30mm Pi fan fits inside case with Std. HS
2mm Foam pads give a gap for air circulation
Add a 30mm hole if you want the best cooling from this combo
