UPDATED! - MX2 ROM talk - MX2 BETA ROM 1.1 ready

I have fixed some things in the BETA ROM.
I removed any assertion checks for a device
I fixed AML auto script so it should work.

ROM download is updated to BETA 1.1

By using the bootloader and boot.img from my Prometheus ROM, I can boot the MX2 system ROM from it

This means I can work on a MX2 ROM and test.

Now to have some fun

BETA ROM for MX2

OK here is my first cut. BETA 1 for the MX2.

Understand I cannot use the MX2 kernel or recovery on my Prometheus. I don't have a MX2 to test on 100%. But the systems and images work between the 2 devices!
This is how I was able to make a MX2 ROM and at least test the basics.

So this is BETA 1.0
Notes:
- I have not edited boot.img so init.d and other performance tweaks I do are not there yet.
- This is not the MX2 ROM. I used parts from many other AML MX ROMs to make this ROM.
- This is the MX2 boot.img, bootloader, and recovery. Thus flashing this should not cause a hard brick.
- I did some basic work in /system like update all Google stuff, update framework, debloat!

What I want you to test before the next release!
- Wifi
- Ethernet
- Go into settings>display and turn off auto detect and try setting different resolutions. I want to know if this works with the MX2 kernel.
- App compatibility
- Anything else you find


I give no README in this ROM right now. I expect you to know how to flash ROMs and recover. If you don't know how to do that, then this is NOT for you!

Instructions:
Download below.
Unzip it and put the 3 files on SDcard.
Boot your MX2 (which I do not know how to do as I do not have a MX2) into recovery or flash mode.
Let it do it's thing! I am using AML Auto script. If you want to apply the update manually, delete this from the 3 files on SDcard. BUT if you do that, please use recovery menu to do a factory erase or you might have problems.

WARNING!
This is a new ROM not an update! It will erase and format your device making it like factory!
BACKUP anything you need to keep!

Late seeing this but YES - this is latest v1.1.6 Matricom ROM with the MBOX settings & new MTD layout.

Hey Bob, had issues downloading - (issues my end) all done now, so here we go....

So, update. Rom doesn't load so no dancing green fella - Recovery just starts giving options to update etc - no bricking tho which is nice

Use recovery and select update from SDcard and select my ZIP file.

It is odd your recovery is not honoring the AML autoscript. Makes me wonder if it is expecting a IMG rather than a ZIP. Remember I cannot test and use the MX2 recovery so this is why testing is important. You need to know how to use recovery menus.

No joy, I deleted the aml script and retried in recovery to update from sd, it doesn't see any files at all on the card. They're there, I can see them on my laptop :/

Gonna try reformatting the card and starting again from scratch, must be something glaringly obvious that I'm missing, it usually is!

Tried and retried, think there's something wrong with this. The box sees nothing at all in the sd when I boot into recovery. Does this make any sense to you?

You are unzipping my download and putting the files inside it onto the SD card right?

There should be 3 files on sdcard
factory_update_param.aml
finless_beta_1_0.zip
recovery.img

These are the same files names in the MX2 update package you sent me.

Yes, I checked that it was a similar set up by checking the zip I sent you. Checked and rechecked tried flashing a few times. It's like its blind to the files

Off topic but I think you can help so I'll ask. Got the new box today yesterday (EKB311) and it's buggy as hell. I plan on reselling this after repack and making good so I need this to work. Can you recommend a rom for it?
