        Some boxes, speakers hdd etc., emit strong electromagnetic fields, so the steel provides a small measure of protection. Could be weight factor too.

        Also on M8, I put a thin bit of tape on the front lighted triangular plastic to hide the blue light and remote stopped working. Every little makes a difference sometimes. Anyone wanting better remote pickup: remove the triangular white plastic.
