    NEW - Minix X8/X8-H Stock ROM 003 in flashable ZIP format

    Here is the Minix 003 Stock ROM 02/05/2015 in flashable ZIP format.

    Yes this is also for the new Minix X8 Plus.

    BUT IT IS NOT FOR the Minix X8-H Plus! DO not flash this to your X8-H Plus or you will loose your special boot keys!

    This is a full ROM and you can flash this over ANY other release!

    Yes you have that correct! It will replace ANY ROM you currently have! This is because I erase everything and start you fresh! Something a FOTA update does not really do. Trust I think this is better especially if your having problems and need to start fresh!

    One thing about FOTA.... If your jacked up due to issues, it will never be like a fresh install! I now provide you that capability with this flashable ZIP.

    A TRUE CLEAN install of 003 like your box was brand new!

    This keeps you from flashing a OLD ROM then updating using FOTA. A TRUE clean install

    NOTE: THIS WILL ERASE YOUR DEVICE! So backup anything you want to keep!

        Take your time on the optimized version.

        It seems to have problems with the new resolution switching function anyways (see minix forum).

          Hi,

          I've done exactly what the Readme.txt says but I can't update my Minix X8-H with this rom. I've tried the first and the second methods. Using the tooth pick method, your 008 Finless custom Rom screen is being "refreshed" every 3-4 seconds while I keep pressing the reset button. If I use the Update App method, it just reboots the Minix to your 008 Finless custom rom. What can I do?

          The SD card is FAT32 formatted and contains these 3 files:

          factory_update_param.aml
          minix_x8_stock_003.zip
          recovery.img

            Thanks from us all goes out to Bob for this flashable stock update, you are the man Bob. I am going to wait though until Bob releases the cuctom rom version that will come in time. I like to flash and have all the goodies on and ready to rock.

              Hi Bob from CaputMundi! ... now March is almost finished and I haven't installed nothing different than Your "Finless 2.0a"! Perfect ROM ...
              awaiting your precious hands on stock ROM 003 .....Do You think to make this for us? Do You can put your time to develop?

              In any case the Finless's releases for Minix are always the best ROM for my NEO X5 before and now for my NEO X8-H.

                My understanding is a update is coming to fix CIFS and some other things from 003. So I am waiting honestly for that.

                    Having trouble with upgrade

                    I have done upgrades before the last two upgrades are not working. Recovery never triggers either i select the firmware the application and select update or by holding the reset but when power up the box. I have tried many times without any luck. Is there any other suggetion to make the firmware update to happen?

                        Well after training numerous Tech's over the years, that went on to be successful Network and Systems Engineers. I kind of find it hard to believe and funny that I can't learn and excel in customizing Android operating systems on a Android TV box. Especially since I've been administering Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix systems for 23 years and VMware and Hyper-V virtual networks for 8 years. Oh well. Thanks anyway.

                          I was not born with this knowledge either! I learned it by Google searching, reading posts, etc.
                          So you have to be more diligent. However ask questions in the links I gave above and I will answer when I can.
                          There is no "manual" or "training" that is all in one on this! Heck my very first ROM on RK took a month of trial and error before I got it to boot! Back then hardly anything existed. Now at least there is more info out there to find and study.

                              You unzip the download or extract it and put the files that are specified in the "read me" or text file, on an SD card. You then put that SD card in the corresponding slot on the side of your device and reboot the box. The flashing instructions are in the download.
                              Hope that helped. It's not that hard.
