1. Download openelec: http://d-h.st/zcCg 2. Copy .zip to sdcard drive (fat32 filesystem) 3. Unplug X6 to make sure it is completely switched off 4. Replug it and attach sdcard drive 5. Press and hold reset-button using e.g. a toothpick 6. Press and hold power-button, keep reset-button pressed 7. Wait until 1-2 minutes auto opening openelec
tried it a few hours after posting and got the same result. no hdmi output....
been searching for a version that works with minix x6 but only found for x8h-plus and for Odroid C1 that contains the same s805 amlogic chip, but i dont know if it has the same devices for network or cpu frequency or not so it's a bit risky to test.
if anyone knows of a newer version or what need to be done to build a version for the X6 please drop me a line.
It has to be mentioned/noted that prior to flashing this ROM to X6, it is needed to flash Finless ROM for X6 in order to overwrite recovery in NAND. Due to usage of modified keys by Minix, signature verification fails. By flashing FinlessROM, recovery get's overriden and standard Google keys used for signing this update.zip are accepted and system update can proceed. Although, I haven't managed to get it working once the update is flashed. I see there's a comment about no HDMI output. I would like to ask, how it was checked/confirmed that the HDMI output is the problem? Can it be accessed some other way? Is the ssh daemon started after boot so one can ssh to the machine if connected on Ethernet port?

I did not test ssh but the HDMI display port gives no signal.
I tried also the CVBS-out pot but no result as well.

I'm quite sure that OpenELEC is not properly booting, or not booting at all. I've setup and DHCP server on my Mac and configured it to assign an IP address to a device connected Mac over ethernet. If I flash Android ROM on X6, IP address is properly assigned (I configured DHCP to be able to assign single IP address only so that I'm sure which IP address has been assigned, if any) and I can ping it. If I do the same with the OpenELEC flashed, IP address is not assigned (I've waited for over 5 minutes and then connect X6 to my Mac over ethernet port) and apparently IP address has not been assigned (I was not able to ping that particular IP) which can indicate two things only:
OpenELEC is not properly booted/not booted at all
OpenELEC is booted but there are no proper drivers for ethernet port so it is not used by the system
