I used both of them.
Practicly I don't see any difference between them. Except the outer design, and dual wifi on MK809 Plus.
BTW, dual wifi indeed improved signal reception quality.
For firmware I'm not sure.
And two little things... MK809 Plus have micro USB ports, MK808B Plus have mini USB. And MK809 Plus have connector for IR remote which works very nice with Kodi, media player, etc...
