giladsta I'm having the same problem as you. I have an M8S V8_8 board (which i believe is the same board as you). Flashed the latest openelec for m8s and it appears bricked. I have a blue light when plugging in, but no HDMI output or boot.

If i connect using usb to usb cable for USB Burn recovery (connecting to usb port closest to edge of M8s box, furthest away from hdmi socket), and no power plugged in, I get no blue light and no device detected on my pc or in usb burn tool. If I then connect power to it in this state i get a blue light, but still no device detected. Ive tried pressing and not pressing toothpic button when doing both of these and still no device detected.

Where have you read about putting a jumper in "otg holes"? My board also has those holes by usb port, but no jumper, and i cant find anything on internet about jumper being put in those holes.

Anyone know the exact nand pins that may need to be shortened? Nand is hynix h27ucg8t2etr on this board. Ive read pins 29 and 30 but had no luck with detection. Any help appreciated.

giladsta Is that jumper needed to enable OTG Usb? If so which USB port does it enable it on? Have you unbricked yours yet? If so how? Thanks

Hi Guys need some help here, I have an M8S trying to follow original instructions and have referred to DCODES update but I am having difficulty
so my flash went like this
              • plugged into USB and it was recognised straight away
              • completed the reset button and the load of image, and it in fact went to 100%
              • the box restarted and I actually saw the flashed screen
              • then went to move on to next stage after about 1 hour, due to dinner time, and the blue light was off and nothing on screen
              • tried to follow the instructions again
              • but although it is still seen on the usb loader, it crashes at 3% with following error
              [0x10205004]Romcode/Lead UBOOT/Check decompress/Error result
              • now no matter what I do, I can not get it past the 3% error
              • I have uploaded the log file in case somebody can analyse and point me in the right direction

Has anyone found a working twrp for this device, I can't get into recovery to flash anything so have had to resort to going through update system via the latest software os.
I've been able to get the latest openelec on it from kerber dev build. It works well appart from only showing 768mb of ram. Going keep an eye for the latest m8s build as all the other versions I've tried have managed to soft brick my device.
                  Appreciate any feedback.
                  Regards.

Hello piperider, yes mate mine is the infamous m8s bcm4335 and it's been a nightmare. I purchased it on **** and confirmed with the seller it was an 'original' and not a clone (nice one! ).
Cannot get into recovery or twrp so simply applied openelec update from the ota update section on Android, not an ideal method but worked perfectly.
The latest kerber dev 6.0.2 build works and shows all four cores but only 768mb, shouldn't be a major issue along as you don't want to apply a large xml advance setting for buffering.
And yeah sorry mate just checking now, wired ethernet spot on but can't seem to get wifi hits.

The wifi drivers for the bcm4335 is going to be a dev issue, not sure if they'd be catered for in any future openelec builds. I've seen mention of it on the amu kerber ru site but that's in Russian so without a translator not sure if it's being addressed.
I did try the m8s+ build and swapped out the bootloader etc but couldn't get it to work, got e: signature verification failed, or something to that effect. Not sure if that build would sort out wifi on this board but I use ethernet which hasn't been an issue with me. The latest m8s build for me works perfect apart from showing the whole 2gb of ram.

Hi everyone! I'm new here and I have to admit after reading some of your posts and trying to navigate the submenus....I feel like I'm on holiday in a mysterious foreign land and all the signs are in a different language so I'm now hopelessly lost. I don't know where to post this question that I signed up just to ask so please forgive me if this is a stupid question and/or not under the correct category...

I bought an Ott TV Box M8S from Craigslist a while back and it has worked great with no major issues so far. That's because it came pre-jail broke and programmed for me by a very smart young man who is much more computer literate and tech say than I, which really isnt saying much. Haha The only thing I hate about it is the janky little remote control it came with that has a noisy "CLICK" when pressing the d-ring and seems like my m8s cant read the signal unless my remote is pointed at just the proper angle in direct line of sight and no more than 12 feet away but even then it only responds half the time. So my question is 2 parts...

Q 1. Are there any smart phone apps on the GooglePlay Store that can turn a Samsung Galaxy S5 into a media remote that works for my Ott M8S (Peel Smart Remote doesn't support Ott and neither do the handful of others I have tried to down load so far.) And....

                              2. If there are no universal remote apps that control my Ott M8S and work on the Galaxy S5, are there any after market stand alone programable remote options that work on the Ott M8S for a reasonable price?
I appreciate any answers you might have and if I posted this in the wrong place please nudge me in the right direction. Much obliged gentlemen.

The stock remote is @#@$. Get a MX3 remote which is RF and has air pointer and keyboard. They usually run around $20. There is a mod you can do to the M8s IR receiver in the box which basically brings the pickup point closer to the window, which apparently helps with receiver angle, but I haven't done it, just went straight to the MX3 remote.
