    NEW - S905 - EZ UN-root ZIP

OK several people asked for a EZ UNROOT ZIP.
    So here it is.

This works just like the EZ Root ZIP I made as far as installing it.
This removes all root files and permissions and takes you back to stock so OTA etc will work again (if it would not work before).

This has been tested to remove root if you used my EZ Root ZIP. I do not know if it will work if you used other rooting methods!
    You have been warned!

    Download the link below.

Unzip the file and put the 3 files on a SDcard.
    ez-unroot.zip
    recovery.img
    factory_update_param.aml

Insert the SDcard into your Minix U1
unplug the power, wait 3 seconds and plug it back in.

Now this is the important part. We need to boot the recovery you put on SDcard not the internal recovery or the ezroot.zip will fail signature.

Press and hold the power button. KEEP HOLDING the power button until you see the Android man updating.
    Release the power button.

The U1 will reboot and your done!

    Enjoy the CLEAN un-root

Thank you! Awesome. Just to confirm. If my box is rooted with your method. And I use this unroot box all my apps and settings stay the same and I can use the Ota update firmware and then root my box again without losing apps/settings. I have been checking every day and I didn't expect this. Thought maybe Tuesday we'd 😊

Yes.... all this does it remove root files and permissions.
You can then OTA and use the EX root to root again.

Hello everyone and thank you for your work Finless. Unfortunately, after unroot OTA (FW004 -> FW005) is not working.

The unroot does remove and replace everything the root did. That I quaranty!
So my bet is Minix does a root check and flags some area so even unroot now wont work unless you do a factory reset.

Sorry, not much I can do there then if they are doing that. Maybe when i have time later I can figure out what they do.

That's too bad I have been having my apps (game emulator apps) minimizing randomly after the new firmware and rooting my device. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the root or the fw or just something I stupidly did. Thanks for the hard work Finless and I will keep an eye on the forums in the future.

Here is what you do to fix that since you are rooted!

Using ES file explorer, turn on root browsing in that and then go to:
                /system/etc

                And delete the file allowbackgroundapp.list

This should solve APPs in the background from closing.

Thanks for getting back to me with a possible solution. Unfortunately it didn't seem to help. Emulators just crash random and I go back to main screen. They seem to be minimized. Not sure what's going on.

I'm hitting the same thing with Mupen64+, NES.emu, and SNES9x. It looks like the app minimizes (ie not crashes) since the emulators have time to perform an "autosave". I deleted the allowbackgroundapp.list file and it seemed to reduce the frequency, but it still happens.

Just additional info. I am running Six Axis with a PS3 controller which also seems to have random failures that lock a button (ie running around in Mario64 it will just keep running in a direction and the controller becomes unresponsive until I go back to SixAxis and stop/start the pairing).

I recently got my Minix Neo U1, immediately performed a clean install of the latest FW (005) and then rooted.

Figured it out. Sixaxis is the culprit. Here is my testing summary:

                      1) Hooked up my iCade 8-bitty bluetooth controller and played for 30 minutes without an issue
                      2) Started Sixaxis, played with my PS3 controller and the emulator app started minimizing randomly (it doesn't really crash since it auto-saves as if you were exiting and when you re-enter the app you are at the exact same spot/menu)
                      3) I was also using the PS3 controller browsing the Android settings menu and it minimized as well

I'm pretty sure Sixaxis is sending something like the "home" button and it minimizes the app you are in. I can also tell Sixaxis is glitchy because while I am playing Mario64 whatever button I'm pushing sometimes gets "locked" and the other buttons stop responding (ie running forward, I let go of the joystick and Mario keeps running and won't respond to other button pushes)

is it true that you can't still get OTA even if you unroot? I rooted with your tool. so can anyone confirm that?
