It's usually just a permission disabled in a XML file. China tends to disable things not phone related in Android when the port to TV boxes. The box does not have a GPS so they tend to remove all that stuff.
I have fixed it before long ago in other ROMs. I will have a look later next week.

Bob, just a query, you said you did some video and memory tweaks, I have seen build.pro and is the same as stock rom, where are those tweaks?

It seems that location works fine with WiFi turned on. If I use the ethernet cable, witch I normally do, location is not working...

Location services is a WIFI thing on Android. Even on a phone with cell data, Android will recomend turning on WIFI for better location accuracy.

So since you are rooted use ES File Explorer and edit these files.

/system/etc/permissions/ android.hardware.location.xml
Add this line after the network line.
<feature name="android.hardware.location.ethernet" />

Then this file:
/system/etc/permissions/ handheld_core_hardware.xml

Add this line after:
<feature name="android.hardware.location" />
<feature name="android.hardware.location.network" />

<feature name="android.hardware.location.ethernet" />


Reboot and let me know.

Hello Bob,

thanks for this great ROM. I have installed it only recently and have not used it for too long. Only one thing I noticed so far and it seems weird to me. When I start a video in Kodi 17.6 it takes a lot of time (like 15-20 seconds) before it actually starts. The file is located on a NAS. I have not seen this behaviour on the original Minix ROM. Do you know what may be the reason for this?

just upgraded to the new ROM based on Minix U1 FW13

Hello,

i have problem on my Minix U1 on official FW013 and this one, when i starting playing a video on YT, or on some other software that playing videos (striming, or internet TV app), screen goes black ( HDMI no signal ) and it going back after 1-4s, sometimes there is no signal and i must hit a home button on remote and then screen come again, then turn YT, play video ( and screen goes black but it back in 2s ).

It was started on FW012 but not on YT, on some software with online TV, on FW013 is on 95% of video playing.

This is not a TV, or HDMI problem, i switch HDMI cables three times, HDMI holes, HDMI cabels (2.0, and 2.0a and 1.2 ) working good with XboxOne, Raspberrypi and phone android.
I was trying to change HDMI output in TV, HDMI configuration 4:2:0, 4:2:2...... etc. Nothing helps.

Any one have the same problems and have a solution to share?
