Mini M8S II 4K Smart TV Box Amlogic S905X 2/8GB WiFi 10/100 LAN BT
Must say first impressions out of the box and up and running very, smooth, clean.
No weird or unusual lockups, Speed Ok, No Major heat issues as even tho there is no ventilation.
Running thru some bench tests as I am typing looking good indeed.
What we have is the 2/8Gb version, 2.4ghz Wifi, 10/100 lan and BT, basic remote control does the job, power pack usa style 110~240v 5vdc/2amps
HDMI Cable and a basic instruction for setting up as in what to plug in where, Running Android 6.01.
Bit of a look at the Underside of the PCB, not much to see Couple of Ram chips and the Reset Button, and Mary's little lamb I guess
Top view of PCB all the Bits to be seen
Close up of Ram, eMMC and WiFi Chip
Good size heat sink of sorts with thermal pad that sits atop CPU,
All test you can see the temp running in top middle of most screen captures only as a guide
Mini M8S II 905X
Overlay you will find either in settings Youtube stats for nerds or geeks, right click while YT playing option should be seen.
Now just to hunt around for this VP9 stuff my life has been missing out of to see what it's all about.
This little beastie I feel is doing well, WiFi and ethernet speeds ok, Loads up well, no unusual quirks as yet.
Netflix is watchable, Kodi installed 16.1 tested a few samples looking ok, Kodi has its third party bloat.
One of the better out of box experience, minimal fuss and bother (kinda boring) but that's good
As mentioned Remote does the job power off and on etc, No power switch on box may bother some,
Small blue LED for power indication, and no other visuals,
While looking for VP9 etc must also find what Andorid 6 has extra to offer, I note so far a lot more permissions are being asked for certain apps when first run.
I've just ordered a 4K HDR TV, so the S905X will be an interesting SOC to test the new capabilities.
Would be nice if there was a 5Ghz/Gigabit LAN version though because the specs for the SOC really demand the network capabilities be at a higher end for those that are going to use the advanced functionality.
Good price for this though and interesting that, according to the specs it has HDMI 2.0b and not just a (needs the ad changing to say HDMI 2.0b and not HD 2.0b)
