BRICKED! [S905X] Amlogic OTT X96 Tv Box 1G/8GB model

    Hello,

I have been lurking the forums and internet for a possible solution to a "bricked" OTT X96 TV Box. The light is solid red, will not boot in to a "recovery" mode, so I cannot do anything with it. I have been following guide after guide with the USB Burning Tool. I have downloaded about 10 different "factory" roms, which are un-modded.

    - My TV Box is detected by the USB Burning Tool.
    - I have tinkered with the configuration options within the tool, "Erase Flash", probably every combination possible.
    - Have tried multiple Male to Male USB cables, as well as different ports, and different PC's.
    - Have tried other versions of the tool, latest, and about 4 other versions (which are supported).

The tool gets to 7%, and instantly gives me an error. The error is as follows:

    [CODE
    ][13:38:12 806][HUB1-1][Inf]-------------Download meson1.dtb-----------
    [13:38:12 807][HUB1-1][Inf]--0-7-0-16
    [13:38:12 807][HUB1-1][Inf]-- download mem dtb normal 79872
    [13:38:12 808][HUB1-1][Inf]--Send download command success
    [13:38:12 821][HUB1-1][Inf]--Read command status success
    [13:38:12 835][HUB1-1][Inf]--Transfer complete
    [13:38:12 835][HUB1-1][Inf]--Send download get_status command succeed
    [13:38:12 839][HUB1-1][Inf]--get_status success
    [13:38:13 340][HUB1-1][Inf]-------------ERASE FLASH-----------
    [13:38:13 340][HUB1-1][Inf]--disk_initial 1
    [13:38:13 340][HUB1-1][Inf]--Send command success
    [13:38:13 667][HUB1-1][Err]--failed:[13:38:13 667][HUB1-1][Err]--Check command return failed
    [13:38:13 673][HUB1-1][Err]--[0x30201004]UBOOT/Disk initialize/Send command/Error result
    [/CODE]

I have tried the "hold toothpic on the reset button, then power, and usb cable".
I have literally tried EVERY method possible, to no avail.

Is this doomed? Is there a way to revive this box? I am at a complete loss as to where to go from here now.

    Thanks.

It is the Amlogic OTT X96 TV Box, 1GB Memory/8GB Storage (not the mini, the legitimate X96, with s905X).

You have to use the correct versoin of the USB burning tool AND the correct firmware for your box. I am guessing you have not found the correct firmware.
        MK818B, T428, ATV 1220, CS918S, TV01, S89H, R89, ADT-1, MK808B Plus, MINIX X8-H Plus, Tronsmart Orion R68

I have been trying for literally 4 days now, with combinations of EVERY Firmware I've been able to locate, for the X96 and every burning version that is compatible, without giving xml errors upon importing the img. Care to further assist?

Maybe you have a better knowledge where to locate the 1GB/8GB OTT X96 s905X stock rom/firmware? I have about 10 different ones claiming to be just that, and ALL are giving me an error at 7%.

This seems to be my box:

              https://www.entertainmentbox.com/x96...re-download-2/

Mine is the 1gb/8gb, not the 2gb/16gb (which is optional for this x96 box).

              - Tried USB burning tool v 2.0.5, v 2.0.8, v 2.0.6, V 2.1.6 (latest I reckon). I'm out of ideas.

I've read some places that some boxes are "locked" which won't allow you to flash them, I am wondering if this is the case with mine? I have legitimately tried almost EVERY img file I could find for this box, in combination with different versions of the burning tool, different configuration options, different PC's, different USB A to A cables, to no avail.

The firmware files I'm using, are the ones that actually get passed 2%,which is a good sign it's the "correct" firmware. I am just failing at 7% every single time,no matter what I do

Links to firmware files I've downloaded / tried:

              https://www.entertainmentbox.com/x96...ware-download/

^ These packages were complete packages for TWRP/Factory reset / SD card etc... not through usb burning tool

searched from x96 on this site.

You have tested pretty much all the ROMs that are available for your box, nothing else I can suggest for that idea.
Give give the firmware buy Minixfreak a try. He has firmware for the amlogic s905x, which may work on your box.

Look for the "tanix tx7" firmware. That should flash to the x96 (mine did). Use burn card maker + SD card

With Burn Card Maker & SD Card, doesn't the box need to not be bricked? By bricked, it's got a solid red light, does not boot any USB/SD Card, only detectable via USB Burning Tool so far. I cannot even turn it on with HDMI plugged in, just stays a solid red light, and even holding the "Reset" button in, doesn't do anything. HDMI doesn't detect anything, and the box stays with a solid red light.

Using burn card maker and all the ROMS listed above,I am getting the red light to blue,it starts recovery, but always freezes or errors. It never passes this amount:

Note: Sometimes the android robot doesn't display the X (error) but it freezes and does not progress (I tried leaving overnight).

Thank you. Did you run in to the same issues? (error at 7%)?

My box is also Q5X 2.0 16293 - I'm not sure how that differs from yours or others.

Any more help is greatly appreciated ya'll!

AND if I do it via the Burn Card Maker and SD card method, I get in a continous reboot loop while it's "Upgrading" (using the tx7 rom/modified x96 rom). It gets just passed the amount seen in the first photo, then reboot loops, starting over.

A little "progress" I suppose. I was able to get to this recovery screen, but ANY option I try to choose, gives me the following errors:

If I can get this far, I feel like there is hope!
