Agreed, just because it doesn't have Netflix doesn't mean it's a bad device, actually I think it's the best one out there (besides the Nvidia Shield of course) and I'm going to get it...

Who's Hailstorm, and what is he/she completing please?

It's a project. Netflix's project with few vendors and the goal is to extend Netflix app availability on larger amount of devices, including popular tvboxes. Amlogic is on the board too, among other companies like HiSilicon. But it can take a while, and there's no progress report yet. It was started somewhere in November.
