    Amlogic S905X3 vs S905X4: AV1 Video Codecs

    Video codecs serve one important task reducing the byte size of videos without drastically degrading their quality. Compared with Amlogic S905X3, S905X4 added the support for the royalty-free AV1 video codec. What is AV1? AOMedia Video 1 (AV1) is an open, royalty-free video coding format designed for video transmissions over the Internet, and the fact that it is open-source means it will not be plagued by the licensing issues that held back the adoption of the previous generation of HEVC technology.

        The Company SMDTECH (first post) I believe makes fully certified OTT boxes to support all forms of streaming.
        They are not aimed as something you would find online to buy over the counter
        More designed for Telecom, Broadcasting and Pay TV operators.

        It is more up to who supplies the box and what they support.

            I wish they would go back to the size boxes like the older MXq pro imo that box was the perfect size.

            It even had little screw posts for a fan on the inside cover which would be perfect now.

            They keep making em smaller and thinner and they keep cutting out room for cooling
