Recently got one of these. Problem with streaming movies - they freeze. The box does not freeze, only the movie playback. The only solution is to click the back button, select it again and then select resume (if available) but then another 30 minutes or so into the movie it happens again. The average length movie will freeze up to 4 times during viewing. Most annoying. Not good at all. Does anyone else experience this?

Cant obtain factory reset or recovery no matter what. It just sits there displaying first boot screen and goes no further.

This has to be one of the worst boxes Ive ever had. Its got so much going for it under the hood. The plonkers that released this box without proper testing all want shooting.

Hi mate, I cant thank you enough for this.
Installed first go using USB_Burning_Tool.
Genuine Root.
Managed to get temporary TWRP using S905_TWRP3_ViT.zip so now I can back up and access recovery.
Just need a bit of time now to see if picture playback has stopped freezing.

Many thanks once again, the box was almost binned.

Just tried playing some 4k from USB stick, its perfectly smooth.

Been awhile since I have had a fiddle with a S912 Box,
This one a 2/16gb and doing ok
Temps 50 to ~70c when pushed
Set up of Google, Wifi etc all good updates of apps and Installed testers Ok.

Upper and Lower Bars present with Root access and SU installed.

Fairly standard UI and the usual Batch of Apps and Bits installed, No boot logo/loader just the standard s912 badge
Working good no problems, BT Speaker tested all good and the remote well as good as it can be.

It seems m96x brand has very poor heat sink. It will be better if you can install a heatsink and fan after removing the factory installed cheap quality heatsink. i am concerned with the noname wifi chip HS2734A V15628 they have included with an otherwise ok hardware. If possible can you install libreelec with kodi on a sd card and check if everything works?
