Alfawise 96 Pro+ and playing 4K video files

Hope someone can advise. I have an Alfawise H96 Pro+ which is supposedly 4K capable. However, when I connect it to my 4K Panasonic TV (an EX750b) the resolution is displayed only at 1080p. Why will it not show at the full 4K of the USB files I am testing? When I connect the USB direct to the Panasonic the files play video at the full resolution just fine, but I want to use my Android box as the TV does not usually display subtitle files, while VLC/Kodi/MX Player do. Is there something I need to do on the box to sort this? I have connected it direct to the TV via an HDMI cable.

Open Droid Settings app (shoud be already on Your device) than Display and Screen resolution and check if there it can be changed to 4K.
