The "Sound" settings in this Android TV 7.1.2 is different than the "Sound" settings in my previous Android 7.1 firmware. I am not sure what some of the Sound settings mean in this release.
    -System Sounds (ON)
    -Surround sound (Auto)
-Dolby sounds (LINE) -Digial sounds (SPDIF)
    -Dts sounds (0)
I have experimented with as many combinations as possible, and while I do get audio coming from my optical audio, I never get DTS audio.

My receiver has a "DTS logo" that lights up when it is playing a DTS audio track. Anytime I configure SPMC to enable 5.1 and DTS, my reciever does not get a DTS logo and plays back no sound at all.

Before I test more spmc/kodi builds, I am curious if anyone else using this firmware is also using an optical audio cable and if DTS is properly working for them? Maybe my problem is with my Sund settings because I am confused with the Dolby sounds and Dts sounds settings.

PS: I did have DTS audio working properly with Android 7.1 stock firmware, and have setup DTS audio on many of these devices. I know how to configure the Kodi/SPMC settings for my audio hardware.
Yes. Off the top of my head I changed it to spdif. Will check tomorrow

I am fully aware that normally they would need to be flashed in sequence, I'm only asking as they are both over 600MB.
sequence! i need to add that to the 1º post...

Thanks for the Firmware I am about to experiment.
After modding my H96 Pro with a larger heatsink for cooler running, exposing the two extra USB ports and placing the 2.4Ghz dipole antenna outside the case everything is spot on. I'm hoping this now great box will become a fantastic one thanks to Superceleron.

First of all - this is a superb image! Fantastic job superceleron! I love the speed, love the Youtube, I love the design, etc. Great job overall.
This image really makes me wonder if I really need LibreELEC ;-)
My box is H96 Pro+ (Not Alfawise - although some previous SC images had Aida64 fooled and it reported it as Alfawise H96 Pro+) with 3GB DDR and 32GB eMMC.
All works - I do not use WIFI, so I really do not care if it has or has not lower speeds...
I'm running the SCV2 now (Yes, I saw nice "feature" of amcodec on SPMC on SCV1 ;-))

There are some (minor) videocodec (mediacodec/Surface and maybe on amcodec aswell) issues, but I might report those later on...

The main problem I found right now is with Audio Passthrough. It kind of seems, that Audio Passthrough is somewhat broken. I do not know if I need to change some settings or what - I have tried all kind of different settings in Settings->Audio/Sound, but passthrough simply does not work - not a simple beep comes out.

My configuration is: H96PRO+ connected through HDMI to my receiver.

So, I tested in Kodi17 (official from Play store, downloaded 64bit and 32bit from kodi.tv) and I also tested with SPMC 17a10. Plus I hear no audio in internal movie player - it detects DTS for example and then nothing is sent to receiver.

So, I enabled debug in Kodi (I can post full log also) and I see:

          SPMC reports the same...

          * Passthrough - YES
          * ALL audio formats - SUPPORTED (because my receiver can support them).

So, now I open test-file with simple AC3 sound (you can download the BigBuckBunny 1080p 60fps with AC3/MP3 audio from web) - it does actually not matter what file I select (with DolbyD, DolbyD+, DolbyTrueHD/Atmos, DTS, DTS-HD/HA), the result is the same always...

I'm not Kodi developer, so I can't interpret this 100%, but I assume, it does try to pass AC3 first and fails, then tries to send the other stream, but fails again...

Same kind of thing happens to all passthrough audio formats and the same thing happens to SPMC17a10.

FTMC plays AC3 and DTS, no HD in there. But it is Jarvis-based, so the audio is handled differently, therefore it does not count. If there is FTMC17 beta/alfa somewhere, I'm happy to try this one...

I have not tried "shitty" Kodi versions, but it does not matter actually...

          Because I did install "stock" image from this forum (aml_7.1_s912_q9377-H96PROPLUS_KDMC_mac-20170809.img) and passthrough works OK on this - I get DolbyDigital 5.1, I get DolbyD+ 5.1 and 7.1, I get DolbyTrueHD 7.1, I get DTS 5.1, I get DTS-HD 7.1.

And of course - running LibreELEC from SD works perfectly regarding passthrough and on videocodec...

So, the box is capable of passing through the audio, but there seems to be a glitch in FW.
I have indeed rooted the box, so, if there is a "simple fix" (permissions, settings, etc) that I can try, just let me know and I can try...

And I have tried the non-ATV version (SCV4 and so on) also - the same happens there.

Actually I even tried SCV2 beta (plus SCV3 OTA) and at least AC3 and DTS were passed through - I do not remember about DTS-HD, but this one might not play...

So, any advice would be good...

Just what ive been waiting for.
Can someone clarify the installation process for me. I cannot use the USB Tool option, SD Burn Card maker works and ive used it in the past so i will install this way.

So, downloading SCV1 Img which i will use to install from via SD Card.
I now see there are two more files,SCV1A Fixed and SCV2. I presume these are updates. Not images so how do i install them?

Looked through the posts and flashing it via TWRP is the way to go.
Now, do i flash both files or just SCV2 (which i presume has the SCV1A fix).

Do i Stick them on a usb flash drive and install them from that in TWRP?????

Im downloading all 3 files now just incase.

            Thanks

              Once you have SCV1 installed.
Hit home - so you are looking at the home page.
Then select the bottom row (which shows 3 icons, the second is wireless and the third is the app drawer.
click on the app drawer, then move along until you can select update.
Make sure you have an USB drive attached with both updates on it. ( You can do it with only 1 update at a time but with 3 boxes to update it meant I could do each in turn and just move onto the next).
Select update - local and point it to SCV1A then confirm.
After it's flashed and rebooted, repeat the process for SCV2.
This will take much longer to reboot.
              There you go, all done.

First of all, thanks superceleron for your work!
I'm going to receive this wonderful box in the next days. I understood how this ROM must be installed but I'm wondering if this ROM has the brightness fix like the stock one.
If so, how do you suggest to root it? I never rooted an android tv box because the ROM I installed on them were already rooted.
                  Thanks in advance

Just copy the latest SuperSU zip file to an USB drive (which you can easily find via google) and tell it to flash a local update. As if installing an OTA.

Thanks for your fast reply man. Then do I need to install the "SuperSU" app from gplay?

Nope, it's included in the ZIP, you could however also install if from Gplay as it may allow you to update SuperSU without having to download a new ZIP.

Ok got it. Thank you again. Did you tried this ROM? Does it have the brightness bug that afflicts several boxes?

This image really makes me wonder if I really need LibreELEC ;-)
My box is H96 Pro+ (Not Alfawise - although some previous SC images had Aida64 fooled and it reported it as Alfawise H96 Pro+) with 3GB DDR and 32GB eMMC.
All works - I do not use WIFI, so I really do not care if it has or has not lower speeds...

That is why i hate audio... i always have problems because i dont have how to test the Audio Passthrough.
in the logs all is ok detecting, it only cant create the graph when it trys to play it hmm...
Can you try stock? 7.1.2 version.
i m8 do a test version, but not now.. i cant im already on other work and i need to finish that 1º or else i get lost....
