Seems strange...

I got SQlite DatabaseBrowser portable and loaded the database.

It contains android_metadata, shortcut, sqlite_sequence n some more tables

After query SELECT * FROM shortcut I received the following:

I expected entries for every shortcut...I dont know..what is this?

Thats what i have noticed too on Mac sqlite3 with command line. If you view db file in text editor you will see the shortcuts with binary garbage... Haven't tried HEX editor yet.
It seems that the file has been applied some kind of compression or encryption.

Here is the test-file download and install. Only first shortcut for IPTVextremePro is replaced. if you have provided the name correct "com.pecana.iptvextremepro" it should work.

I'm glad it worked for you.

APK file should decompile and recompiled properly. Your extracted source was incomplete and the file you were editing was not the only one which needs to be modified
other source also need to be take care for proper compilation of apk file. I use Linux/Unix and OSX for reverse Engineering.

Its up to you But i guess name of the app may be same.
