Noob needing help with stock FW

I bought a Mecool M8S PRO L 4K for the in-laws who live abroad and want to watch UK TV in Europe (have VPN). I wanted something fairly intuitive and easy to use.

Disappointed to find that the Android TV firmware supplied does not have BBC iplayer or 4OD apps available in the Play store

I downloaded the apk for each and installed that way and although BBC iplayer loads, the menu is difficult to use with remote as you cannot see what is highlighted and 4OD gives an error as the device is rooted.

I found this forum but have read that some FW could disable my wifi and bluetooth.

As there are a lot of stickies, I would appreciate some guidance as to what I can do.

I have a Mecool M8SPro LB, bought from gearbest about october november last year. Wifi packed up, & was able to get a refund & kept the box.

I think I have tried those, ROMS there is stock, nano (minmal)

There is no reset button on the Mecool to install new roms, I load android app https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...3O8/edit#gid=0

I always use the cardmaker to try different roms.

As for iplayer, you really need a mouse
