Read/Write external and internal drives remotely

I am used to my previous box mounting Android 4.4.2. I bought a beelink GT1 that mounts Android 6 and something has changed on how it handles files and folder permissions.
I used to use Filezilla to transfer files to the hard drives connected to the box but with the new box it is not possible: I cannot delete or add any file to the internal or external drives of the box because seems I don't have the permission to modify anything remotely. I tried to transfer a file using ES File Manager and it worked.
Is it possible to globally modify the permissions of the files/folders in order to continue using my old method? Android file managers (especially on these TV boxes) is extremely unfriendly.

You might try a file sharing utility in the Play Store, like Samba Filesharing for Android:
