Lots of great resources in the last several posts, all of which went straight over my head. lol.?*
Three questions from a tech simpleton :
1) will the vast accessories, the plug-n-play nature of the Vim3 card, and the multi boot capability... Be a good entertainment, hobby product that a relative novice would enjoy practically? That is to say, expand my learning curve, without great fear of a hard brick? And in the mean time get a stable streamer, video player with all the benefits of a micro pc?
2) I see lots of FW (V. Encouraging)... ALL of these will require pc "flashing" skills? Or at a minimum sd boot card-maker skills etc??* Correct? No ota type files would be available?
3) Third, and perhaps most important... NONE of the Vim Edge projects rk3399 FW Can/Could be utilized (somewhat easily)?* replacing the 7.1.2 mess loaded upon... Say M-see's N6max?
This thinking is just a fallacy on my behalf?
It comes to me, thinking vim started their 3399 support with a FW more closely aligned with the chip makers specifications and quality. Not a baaad hack.?*
Please, your opinions are important to us far less knowledgeable, greatly appreciated, and sometimes heeded.?* lol!?*
Thanks for indulging me ignorance.?*
2. Almost all additional systems can be run from external media without the need to flash to eMMC. If desired (if you really like any system), you can install them in eMMC. Although for VIM3 (s922) and EDGE (rk3399) the speed of the system with good external USB 3.0 media will be comparable to eMMC (or even better) and there is no need to put it in eMMC. And you will always be able to quickly switch to the standard firmware in eMMC, simply by disabling the external media.
3. I know that one copy of EDGE-V was sent to MO123, and I hope it will add its own to the regular Android firmware from Khadas

I now have a lot of models that I need to provide support, all my attention will be focused on them. If the it deems it necessary , they can contact @Chewitt on the subject of interaction and sending samples to the developers of the LE. who will have the opportunity (time) to do develop support for GT-King.

More News On the Vim3 it wont be a 922x OMG ?????
So what SoC will it be?Hi Khadas Members,This news may come as a shock to some of you, so carefully put down your morning coffee and read this sentence three times: The Khadas VIM3 SBC which will officially launch this June 24th, will not use the Amlogic S922X SoC.You’re probably feeling confused now. However, we’ve had to make this decision for several reasons, the most notable of which will be mentioned below:5.0 TOPS NPU:The main reason why VIM3 won’t use the S922X, is the lack of an NPU. It

A good looking board with nice specs, especially the M.2 slot, although if I am looking at it/s position, the SSD would be poking out of the side of the case by some way?
The increase in benchmark tests over the S922x make the new SOC seem worth them having chosen it.
If it does perform as expected and all the OS builds work well, it will be serious competition for all the other new boards and boxes in it's class.
I wonder whether it having twice the SPI flash of the N2 whether it can support a multi boot GUI ala petitboot.
To have a CE/LE, Linux, Android triple boot from an SSD would truly make it an all round device.
The only thing that all these new devices are missing is 64 bit Android.

And Not overly expensive
* New M2X Extension is an ultra-thin version of this extension board without PoE capability* Only x1 NIC can be used at one time, either the 100mb/s RJ-45 port on the M2X, or the 1000mb/s RJ-45 port on the VIM3. * Edge-V can only use the SSD feature, when connected to the M2X Extension Board. The Ethernet port can receive electrical power, but no network data input. Please check Edge-V's schematic for full details.
