MCU is a microcontroller with responsibilities. Those may include, in your case, booting the AM6 by IR, WoL, or other means such as RTC. It will often have an EEPROM and it's firmware can be updated/modified. Some device makers offer easy access to the MCU, such as Khadas SBCs. Otherwise, for most users, I wouldn't frig with it.

Of course, not being one of the smartest people in this room or even a room in my house when it's only me and the four-leggers, you might be better served to wait for one of the brains of the outfit.

Hmmm, seems I have heard that before.

That MCU button(switch) that you are just dying to press, and keep in mind this is just a guess, is probably to put the MCU in to its equivalent of MASKROM or burn mode.

Communicating with the MCU will likely require UART, ADB or other such thing.

Not having the AM6, mine is only speculation. If you do locate the OEM magic cheat button, don't keep it a secret.

You said your friends and clients have passed you their previous Macs, that's great, but try adding a Windows PC user to that crew, maybe ya luck in to a freebie, my favorite kind of bie.

Yes, fully supported in Android.
It can also dual-boot CoreELEC where all the HD audio passthrough is also working.

Write with etcher to a micro-sd card.

Does coreEl set-up and maintain any easier than Kodi... which can be a PIA, imo. Not exactly "intuitive", more like endless micro-tweaking.
