    GT-King series dual system plan

I read this info on Beelink forum:

CoreELEC is a ‘Just enough OS’ Linux distribution based on Kodi technology for popular Amlogic hardware.

    Official support

    1. In order to allow users who choose the Beelink TV box to enjoy more functions, in the past, we reached in-depth cooperation with the CoreELEC development team. The CoreELEC team will adapt our products, our GT-King and GT-King Pro You can use the CoreELEC system directly, and we will continue to cooperate in the future to adapt more products.

    System pre-installed

    2. In order to thank users for their support for our products, we will give away an 8GB SD / TF card with the CoreELEC system after the GT-king series products are sold. Just insert the SD / TF card in our GT-King series products. You can directly use the CoreELEC system.

    Free switching

    3. In order to facilitate the user to switch freely between the Android AOSP system and the CoreELEC system when using dual systems, we have added the system option of switching to SD / TF card in the firmware of the GT-King series products. Just press and hold the power off button of the remote control, and the System switch option will appear as shown in the figure below. Select this option and confirm, the machine will restart into the CoreELEC system in the SD / TF card. See how to use the dual system card that comes with the product, or directly check the CoreELEC section of the Beelink forum.

We will adapt to more third-party systems in the future. If there is a third-party system you like, you can also contact us. We will try to contact the corresponding developers to adapt our products.

The second system --- Android AOSP:

Boot to the second system and select from the power options

Reboot from to eMMC / NAND (CoreELEC), automatically reboot into Android AOSP system.

Or open the main menu, enter the exit option, select Reboot from NAND (EmuELEC), restart to enter the Android AOSP system.

    system update

    1. Download the latest upgrade incremental package file.

    2. Copy the downloaded incremental package file to the /storage/.update folder on the device.

    3. The restart will enter the update.

CoreELEC can also choose to update automatically in the system, but only for the stable version.

    TUTORIAL
Tip: The following installation method is one of the official installation methods of CoreELEC, which is applicable to our products. For more installation methods, please refer to:
    https: //discourse.coreelec.org/t/how-to-install-coreelec/677

    1. Prepare an SD / TF (Class 10) card.
    2. Download the corresponding system (eg GT-King) from the official website of CoreELEC (https://coreelec.org/#download).

    3. Download the burning tool from the Rufus official website (https://rufus.ie/) and install it.

    4. Open the burning tool and select the downloaded firmware.

    5. Connect the SD / TF card to the computer through the adapter. The burning tool will automatically select the disk. The other options are the default. Click the Start button to start burning. When the progress reaches 100%, click Close

    6. After burning is complete, open the SD / TF card. Go into the device_tress folder.

    7. Find and copy the DTB file corresponding to the device to the SD card root directory.

    8. Rename the file copied to the SD card root directory to dtb.img

    9. Insert the SD card into the device, and then connect the power cord to turn on the device. The default boot is CoreELEC. When the SD / TF card is not inserted, the Android system is started by default. You can press and hold the shutdown button of the remote control, select the System switch option and confirm, and it will restart into the CoreELEC system. (If you are not booting to the CoreELEC system: unplug the power cord, then long press the reset hole and connect the power cord. Until booting to the CoreElec system.)

I dont understant one thing, thay saying:

?In order to thank users for their support for our products, we will give away an 8GB SD / TF card with the CoreELEC system after the GT-king series products are sold. Just insert the SD / TF card in our GT-King series products. You can directly use the CoreELEC system.?

This only be fore future units, or they will send a Free 8GB SD/Tf card to registered users, or they will provide only the firmware and the ISO to create an SD/TF card that permit the dual boot?

If any dev?s know more about it, please let us know.

Looks like there is another variant of this. On bee-link firmware page it mentions SN code C92X but in another post on their forum they mention SN code C922 so I think they have confused stuff again.

I think C922 is correct for this new revision

                Hi,
as far as I understand I need to use the remote control in order to switch to CoreElec.

I would prefer a reboot and switch to CoreElec without the need to use remote control. Does anybody know something about an APK file for that purpose or do you know a corresponding command? I am very interested in a software-only-solution.

                Thank you in advance

There is "Reboot to LibreELEC" apk available in googleplay, you can use it.

                    Thanks a lot!

I will test it soon (to be honest - I didn't expect such an APK on playstore).

                    Best regards

I'm testing this actually and CE boots first everytime when sd card is inserted.

Is it possible to boot android first with SD card already inserted ?

There is an option in CoreElec power menu Reboot to EMMC/Nand you can us it, but if you change the default skin you will loose this option.
You can customize your skin to add a menu entry for it.

I have the same problem. Coreelec should only boot up first if the dual reboot has active, not everytime.

                          like darkStar said:

Is true, but with that you only boot up 1 time to EMMC/Nand, the next reboot enters in Coreelec Mode again.

In fact this option is... useless because sd boots first on amlogic devices.

If I use reboot function in android with sd card inserted I will have same result...

No way to boot android first and get CE as second operating system, we always have to get through CE first with reboot to nand function to have android.

I don't really see the point of this...

It is a must to boot from sd/usb first because of firmware upgrade, nothing wrong with it.
If it was set to boot from nand first device can be easily broken due to a failure.

reboot option from Android to CE or vice versa (Nand/SD/USB) option in power menu is best solution.

Another solution could be to replace u-boot with another boot manager to select os during boot.
But for now u-boot is the only boot manager, it needs hard work to replace u-boot.
