A good idea, but no more support.
    They're off the shelf.

Any upgrade with the latest realtek chip with such support?

Since TV box is often on power,so this is a quite a good idea for simple NAS.
The rtd1296DD has native support for SATA3.And Zidoo's relative products based on rtd1296dd seem to have a lot of attention and market.

So if Beelink shall issue a product based on rtd1296 with aluminum casing for two 3.5inch harddisk, with these mobile APPs for simple NAS and windows, macOS,linux client, cut the price without those fancy HIFI components,I believe it shall be successful.

Think about all the photos people need to backup wirelessly, most of them don't have and not buying NAS products like Synology.
