I'm thinking of buying a Mi Box to replace my aging Wetek Core. My only concern is that many users are reporting that they can't get Netflix in 5.1 surround sound. I previously bought a Nividia Shield but I returned it as it doesn't have the license for Dolby Digital.
Based on the offical Mi Box website, Mi Box does have the license but many users still can't get Netflix 5.1. Does anyone know if Xiaomi has or is planning to fix the issue? I heard that the cause is with the DD+ to DD decoder that is part of the Dolby Digital license.
My Setup: I have an older avr that only has an optical input and doesn't support DD+. If I got the Mi Box, I would have to connect it to my TV via HDMI then TV to AVR using optical. So far, I am only able to get Netflix 5.1 with my Xbox One S which has an option to select Dobly Digital bitstream as the audio output.
