    Repairer in China

    Hi All,

I am new to this forum from South Africa and hope somebody can help?

I have several Android boxes with 912 chips which need repair one way or another. One was fried by a user plugging in a 12v supply!, another seems to have lost it's way after trying a Gearbest engineer's reburn etc.

I am sure that there is a repairer who specialises in TV boxes, but I would not know where to start to find them. China seems preferable as the boxes emanate from there.

I have friends who are visiting China in February 2019 and they would be able to post from there and collect for me. (South African postal services are slow, inefficient and items get stolen very often)

    Thanks for any help

Sometimes it would just be cheaper to buy new devices instead of repairing older ones, technology in China upgrades too fast.
If you had Rockchip RK3229 or RK3328 devices you could just flash new firmware or use MaskROM Mode if a device didn't boot and fix everything yourself.
They even support auto frame-rate switching and HD Audio in Kodi which a lot of S912 or S905x devices lack.
For Amlogic S912 devices, they are very old now and already replaced by S905X2 devices.
You should perhaps look at Rockchip RK3328 or Amlogic S905x2 devices in future.
Developers also don't make custom firmware for S912 a lot anymore and Amlogic also hasn't made any new software updates or fixes in a while for those devices.

Look at different manufacturers with good support and those that support warranty, then you can just send broken boxes back to them or ask for a refund for broken devices, then you will save a lot of money. I don't think it will be easy to find someone that can fix devices for you since they will need to source the parts and get correct software to flash etc. Most of the time only the manufacturer of a device can help in such cases as they know everything about the products they designed. There are millions of clone or different original devices out there that all look the same but have completely different hardware inside, so it's almost a lost cause trying to fix them if you have no company to contact for support. Stay away from no name or unbranded products unless the company has a website and past track record of releasing software updates.

You can also check if the ATVXperience ROM for S912 devices boots on your devices, flash with AMLogic Burning Tools.
