RTL8191S USB as access point on MK802IV

I'm trying to get the RTL8191S USB adaptor working so I can use it as an access point under Picuntu and hostapd. I see it show up in dmesg, but I can't get the interface to come up. I'm guessing I need to compile a module? I've tried downloading the kernel sources and compiling on the mk802iv, but when I look at 'make menuconfig' I don't even see the option to compile the module.

Does anyone have any advice on getting this adaptor working Picuntu? I used 'marvin' and I think I have the modules compiling successfully. But I still can't find the module for this adaptor.

    Thanks!

Also, when loading modules I got this error

    [37823.030214] rtl8187: Unknown symbol __ieee80211_get_rx_led_name (err 0)

From what I could figure out there's this mac80211 module I need to load. I'm able to
    modprobe -a mac80211

But then nothing happens, I get a prompt back and I don't see anything in dmesg. So I'm stumped
