    path substitution for cache

i setup my android tvbox with pathsubstitution inside the advancedsettings.xml file to move the temp folder to the sdcard to help with buffering, but im afraid is not working how it is intended.

On a pc, xbmc when entering 0 on cachemembuffersize the actual temp file of the video i am watching gets saved on %APPDATA%\XBMC\cache and the file is called filecache000.cache as the movie is buffering, this file keeps increasing in size. I attempted to add pathsubstitution and all files inside the temp folder are moved to its new destination but the 'filecache000.cache' which still being saved on its original destination. I have no problem leaving it like this in windows - was done for testing purposes.

On the android tv box, everything is moved to its new destination as entered on the .xml file but the files moved are small files, less than 3mb each, prob about 6 of them, which makes me believe that the actual cache file of the movie is being still saved to flash which will cause damage to the box in the future.

Any ideas of what i am doing wrong here?

See here for path substitution xml file, just make sure you put in the correct path (source and destination) for your device. See post #46

Hey buho, thanks for the response, i believe thats how mine looks [of course with different folder locations] and only small files are being moved, i do not see a big file increasing as the movie buffers which is how it happens in windows.

I also tried doing your steps on here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...l=1#post150675 but i believe the application 'foldermount' requires for the device to be rooted

The first method I did not create that and never test it., but the second method I did and it worked as I am using it and yes you do need root so you can over ride the limitation of Kitkat which prevents write to the external SD card.
