I don't think it's possible until Koying and all the other Android Kodi's all move to a Kodi 17 base as Kodi 17 still has lots of bugs and no Android maintainer.
If you don't use pass-through or auto frame-rate switching then Kodi 17 should work well.
Devices with Nougat firmware will be able to use Kodi 17 with all features working.
Rockchip launched Nougat and I see Amlogic is also testing it.
Lollipop has zero native pass-through support, Marshmallow only has native DTS/AC3 no HD Audio support.
Nougat is the first Android OS that has native HD Audio pass-through support without any manufacturer hacks.
Without Nougat firmware don't expect things like pass-through to work 100% on Kodi 17.
Kodi 17 + Amlogic/Rockchip Marshmallow firmwares don't work well together.

Ftmc build 24(jarvis) works ok for now. So i will wait till koying or sc move on to 17 for amlogic devices i hope they keep amcodec alive it plays better the android mc.

          FTMC General/AML Build 24 -> General/AML Build 24

I flash SC-RC3 on an MK8 Pro box, which has FTMC pre-installed. Upgraded to Build 24. Noticed a bug. About 20 minutes into any streaming, the app would either freeze (similar to Amlogic S802 and Kitkat with Kodi), or crash and revert back to the previous listing page. Prior to this, I've used SPMC and didn't notice anything unusual. Has anyone experienced this and succeeded in fixing it? Any input would be appreciated.

What are you streaming from and are you using any specific addon?
R-TV BOX S10, Beebox N3150, Chuwi Hibox, Nvidia Shield, A95X Max

It didn't matter which addon. Specifically, Exodus and Phoenix, but it happened on others as well, so long as the program is an hour or longer. Documentaries, old old movies, etc...

I'll get a log and post it here. Attached is a snapshot of the temp folder. I take it that you would want the kodi log at the bottom, SC?

                Thanks for responding.

You probably have too many broken addons installed.
Also maybe you are using Rockchip settings that are enabled while you shouldn't because you are using an Amlogic S912 with broken passthrough.
Try to install a custom S912 firmware and you should have much better results and keep the installed addons to the minimum.

Thanks for the guidance. The addon part, I can understand. The firmware, however, I'm not sure what you referred to. Are you talking the RC3 or the FTMC? If just the FTMC, can't I just turn off the RK settings?

Another twist: I tried adding SPMC 64, but it won't install. Earlier, I had SPMC on, and tried Kodi, then TFMC separately. Neither would stick. In other words, this firmware on my box only takes 1 among 3 at a time. Somewhere in this thread, SC mentioned it would take FTMC with one other.

You can't have Kodi, RKMC or FTMC installed at the same time.
But you can have SPMC with another Kodi installed.
Recommended to only have 1 Kodi installed as it can slow your device down and interfere with each other.
In FTMC, disable all the settings under the RKMC menu.
For firmware it is not the Kodi, it is the whole operating system, Android Marshmallow I talk about.
It has lots of bugs on your device and you need to try to update it with a custom firmware that fixes some of the bugs and brings new improvements if there is one available for your device on freaktab, I'm not sure.
                        Your device is only 32-bit.
Don't believe all the shiny advertisements when being the device, they are all lies.
The CPU is 64-bit capable but the firmware is all 32-bit, so everything still runs at only 32-bit.
You can try the normal non 64-bit SPMC and it should work better.

As far as custom firmware, 4PDA Ru has RC3 Modified for MK8 Pro, or so they say. This custom rom has problems with bluetooth though. I'll try the latest original rom (2/17) later. In the meantime, I turn off all the RK settings, and it seems to stabilize at least for now. I'll monitor to see if any irregularities still. Thanks again for your time.

Anyone knows if it works with Yundoo Y8?
                            Especially for dts passthrough.

I would like to start with great work! I have been testing ftmc with amlogic s905x and it works great. I have noticed that when searching for a video with ftmc, I sometimes miss some HD sources as compared to libreelec. I have tested spmc and I get the same result. I use the same exact addon and addon settings for all 3 setups. Can anyone explain to my why that is? It greatly reduces the amount of 1080 links and often there are none at all.

You won't get pass-through on that device.
Maybe DTS will work with Kodi 17.1 but not HD Audio then it will use the Marshmallow firmware's built-in DTS support instead of IEC61937 that is used in FTMC, RKMC, SPMC.
