    Himedia Q5 Pro / Q10 Pro Android 7

    Via CNXSoft

The majority of TV boxes sold today are running Android 4.4 to Android 6.0, but with the release of Android 7.0for smartphones and tablets earlier this year, it was just a question of time before the OS got ported to TV boxes. Himedia appears to be the first company to have released Android 7.0 for their Hisilicon Hi3798CV200 based TV boxes, namely Q5 Pro and Q10 Pro.

The changelog for the new firmware includes:
    1. Android N OS running stable and smooth
    2. Support for Android N Google Play version
    3. Support for Samba UPnP
    4. System function perfectly upgraded from 5.1 to Android N with compatibility
    5. Youtube updated to 4.10.7 and Netflix to 1.3.11
    6. Homepage, Application Management, Media Center optimized, focus movement are more swift and smooth
    7. Media Player upgraded and support mouse operation
    8. Local Media Playback Improved; Certain rare videos black screen, display ratio of 3D to 2D abnormal, and occasional subtitle defect issues fixed
    9. Blu-ray video slow loading conditions improved and speed up
    10. Local Audio output improved and certain audio tracks unable to decode and output issue fixed
    11. Revised some UI language
    12. Support for Widevine L3
I assume most users are running Android 5.1.1 right now, but for those who are using an Android N beta version, a different firmware file is requiredThe update procedure is basically the same as most others Android TV boxes on the market:
    • Download a new firmware and copy the file update.zip) to the root directory of a USB drive.
    • Plug the USB drive into the TV box
    • Go to Settings→System→System upgrade to select/click the letter of the USB drive.
    • The TV box will then begin upgrading the firmware from the USB drive.
    • Wait for the TV box to complete the upgrade. Please be patient, as it may take around 5 minutes to complete.
    • The TV box will then automatically reboot, and boot to Android N Final
Just bear in mind that changing Android version often leads to some new bugs, even though the company claims “perfect compatibility” and that everything is running “stable and smooth”.

If you are interested in either devices Himedia Q5 Pro is sold for $199.99, and Q10 Pro for $299.99 on sites such as Geekbuying

          News from Futeko

HiMedia have released official Android 7 firmware version 2.0.4 for Q10 Pro.

It fixes the stability problems with version 2.0.3, fixes the 'HDR not 16:9' aspect ratio bug, provides a new HiMedia mediaplayer interface, further improves picture quality (particularly for 4K video), updates and improves Imprex2 image enhancement, provides single click UHD-ISO and BD-ISO playback (click on .iso - simple menus), fixes resolution/refresh/colourspace reset bug, and includes a host of other improvements/fixes.

We think it is the best Q5/Q10 Pro firmware yet and advise all users to update.

2.0.4 must be installed on a Q10 Pro already running official firmware 2.0.3. See our firmware thread for full install instructions and information on the upgrade path. HiMedia will push 2.0.4 via OTA update (for Q10 Pro running 2.0.3 only) next week.

There is a new version of HiControl remote app for this firmware. It adds compatibility with Android 7 phones/tablets. See here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=796.0

Anyone knows what are the differences between the international and CN versions of Himedia q5 pro?
Are there any Nougat updates for the CN version?

Hi everyone. This is my first time here.
I have a new Q5 pro using a firmware that i cant find any reference to. Out of the box it cames with: HDM-1.1.0 2017-04-08.224716 / Android 5.1.1 /Kernel 3.18.24
The box seams to run everything fine but I cant upgrade the software. I've tried all the normal procedures using the official software from Himedia website to upgrade from Android L to N.
But everytime it shows an error after the update bar barely starts.

The box is in English and no chinese words appears when i start the box. So I assume it's not the chinese versions.

Can anyone help me or just point whats firmware version should I use to upgrade?

                Thank you
                Kanoysta
