The problem of adding features is likely down to the limits of the SOC.
Gigabit ethernet, dial band ac wireless, SPDIF, internal option for MSATA SSD etc would all be nice but it simply may not be possible yet.
Perhaps the newer Atom Cherrytrail will allow the hardware specs to match those on Arm devices.
