I think that if Apollo Lake is really going ti take off and tempt people from Cherry Trail, manufacturers need to seriously consider including the DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 bridge chip to enable full 4k resolutions.

Now for the first run and we see how it goes.

Proper Windows 10 start asks Country/Region, Language, Keyboard layout, and TIme Zone.
Then it asks for Windows Product Key



Click on Do this later and continue on with Setup as the activation will automatically happen in backround.
There is no need to Enter Product key.

Then Continue on with the Setup, all easy and then you will be in Windows 10 Version 1607 14393.576
Then I Checked for Update as there was a update today
Wifi Good and download easy and update equally as easy, now on 1607 14393.969.

I received my AP42 recently, but couldn't get any of the Linux installation CDs (such as Ubuntu 16.10, 16.04, OpenSUSE) to boot. They all freeze with black screen with a cursor at the top left corner. It seems it gets stuck at GRUB. I tried playing with BIOS settings with no success (there are very few settings in the menu). Beelink website has nothing but product page for AP42/34.

Any idea?

I spent a bit more time to figure out why none of the Linux installation CDs I tried fail to boot up.

It seems GRUB2 fails to start no matter what. I tried creating a CD and USB stick that just have GRUB2 (both 64 bit EFI and 32 bit EFI. Verified to work on other machine) . They all freeze with a non-blinking cursor at the top left corner of the screen.

Windows and FreeBSD installation disks boot up fine, so I believe it's an issue between GRUB2 and AP42. Hopefully Beelink will release a BIOS fix or GRUB2 will be fixed, but at this point don't expect Linux to run. They pretty much all rely on GRUB2 for startup and even the latest GRUB2 doesn't work.

Are you trying Live distros? If so, do those boot?
