I guess not everybody knows that most of the times, while 720i, 720p and 1080i are commonly supported resolutions even by HD Ready TV sets, 1080p is properly supported only by top notch Full HD TV sets, or TV monitors. I guess this is due to 720p and 1080i having almost the same bit rate, while 1080p having a double bit rate, not supported by all processors. If you want to display a Full HD image, regardless of the TV set, try using the 1080i setting, if available. Anyway, since your panel is not Full HD, there is no reason to try to display a Full HD signal, since it will be interpolated to a lower resolution anyway.
