      I think it's because of 4.55... I think we need 5.x ...
(I also think the tool interpreting binary values and that's maybe because of the 4.55 at this bios-rom wrong...)

        We need this tool! AMISCE

Sound like a tool we need. Just have not found it yet.

        AMI Setup Control Environment (AMISCE)

AMISCE is a command line tool which provides an easy way to update NVRAM variables, extract variables directly from the BIOS, change settings using either a text editor or a setup program and update the BIOS. AMISCE produces a script file that lists all setup questions on the system being modified by AMISCE. The user can then modify the script file and use it as input to change the current NVRAM setup variables.

        Supported Products:
        Aptio V
        Aptio 4

Hey Randy, maybe you can get the Aptio V BIOS tools from PIPO?

I have searched and search and the only place that looks like has them is in China

          http://bbs.bios.net.cn/thread-266346-1-1.html

I tried to register to download but it did not send me an email

OK the RW everything tool is pretty awesome once you figure out how to write to NVM.

I when into NVM and modified the license key. I changed one letter which should make it invalid.

I reinstalled widows 10 preview and it is now not activated!

So then I restored Pipo's Win 8.1 with Bing and it also did not activate.

You can of course manually activate by entering the key I told you how to get.

Now to fix it in NVM and make sure it will work again.

                UPDATE!

                VERY INTERESTING!

I said I did a restore and windows was not activated. That started out as true but then activated all on it's own!

I used RW everything and checked and now the key in NVM was back to the original key.

So! This means a restore is writing stuff to NVM like the key. What else it is doing I do not know.
I find that interesting to be honest. Maybe Windows itself is writing to NVM?
I just do not know how this all works to be honest.

No luck on finding version 5 from Pipo. 4.55 is the newest one they could download, too.

Maybe Eric can get it for us.

I think that the prevailing standards are that 32 bit systems use a BIOS and that most UEFI implementations are 64 bit. This is why the Baytrail systems are causing issues. (There are rumblings that originally the power-saving tablet-friendly bits of Win 8.1 were only implemented in the 32 bit version - hence these devices shipping with a 32 bit Windows - and thus a 32 bit UEFI being needed?)

I think that a UEFI firmware with 64 bit compatibility AND Legacy BIOS would be great... Not sure we'll see it...

Same with this box. But in fact it is a 32 bit BIOS which is why you cannot get it to boot a 64 bit UEFI disk. Unless I am missing something!

Pretty keen for some progress on this as I really want to get a working version of Android x86 running and I can't figure out if it's the UEFI or that Android x86 doesn't have support for the Z3736F chipset, would be good to knock one of them out .

Also if this helps: The Teclast x98 has almost the exact same hardware specs as the Pipo x7 and they have managed to hack the dual boot version to work on the non dual boot version (including the bios but I'm not sure to what extent), info here:
